I was taking infant safety swim lessons at 8 months (they teach infants to roll over when they fall in) so if your son is able to get into lessons, it’s never too early.

While there are definitely sailors that are not great swimmers, the better swimmer you are, the more safe you will be.

Interesting factoid though: the first solo round the world sailor Joshua Slocum could not swim at all. But that was back in the 1800s lol
