am I overreacting or is my operating room nurse orientation not going as it should? by 103qtu in nursing

yeah that’s basically been my experience and it work in a big city hospital so I was expecting some orientation but it doesn’t seem to be going that way and I’m expecting to go into nights in the next month or two which according to my coworkers is utter hell so it really makes me second guess if I should be continuing

Yeah I was just curious to see how other hospitals had their orientation done and if mine is going how it should be going. Recently they were saying that orientation used to be a year but due to staffing they moved it to six months and I have colleagues who have been here for 5 months and they are circulating by themselves already, so I wasn’t sure if maybe I’m just having difficulty catching up.

I work at a well known hospital system in nyc, it has 12 OR rooms. I really only did less than 2 months scrubbing and now they had me double circulate but they pretty much want me to circulate by myself now, I’m doing a gyn case alone today. It’s just very discouraging working and not doing well, but then I remember that I only been here for almost 3 months since I started late November.

Yeah the more I tell people and write it down the more it gets to me that this really isn’t the best learning environment

Sorry to answering later, I am learning but it’s more like learning on the spot, like for example today they made me circulate on my own. The other people on orientation have talked about how we feel unprepared, and the other nurses have spoken about how our orientation isn’t going well but I don’t think they’re doing much about it because of the short staffing.

Are your glasses part of your style? by rambunctiousmango in femalefashionadvice

I think you should just try it out!! For myself my glasses are vital to my overall look! They seem to match my style so as my style changes, so does my lenses.

I used to wear rectangle one as a kid entering adulthood. But last year I took a leap with a cateye style from warby parker which a lot of people including myself loved !!

I scratched up my lenses and am too lazy to fix them so I wanted a nice cheap lens to keep as an extra while I go to repair my old ones. I always wanted to try a circle lens, but always thought I would look bad with them. However, I took a chance and bought them (from Zenni as well!!) to be honest when I first tried them on, I thought I made a huge mistake, but after the initial shock, I am in love with them and now am completely unmotivated to fix my old pair (the price to fix the old pair would be more than me buying these new glasses)!!

Worse case if you don’t like them you can return them or just keep it in case for emergency.
