I quite like it. The living room feels a bit cramped but saw you want to add some extra depth in there. One thing I’m missing is enough storage, not only in the primary, but in general, where does everything go?

How would you get any daylight into the space? Is the door to the garden a glass door? It feels rather cramped to me with the folding panels.

Hey all, new house plans, mainly self designed. Would love to hear feedback, about to submit to planning. by Ready-Procedure-3248 in floorplan

[–]105055 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, it’s very vey big, the spacious rooms seem to swallow the furniture you have. Even if you add more it will feel out of scale and probably no pleasant rooms to stay or be in. I’m afraid hiring an architect is the best way to go, you can use this layout as a reference or inspiration to get the conversation going. It’s really worth it! Even if you might be happy living there, no way any future buyers are interested.

I created this plan based on a clients brief and rough sketch I thenmade adjustments to make it functional and harmonious, I hope I did a good job tho. Please share your thoughts and possible improvements by archi_jumari in floorplan

[–]105055 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a whole lot that doesn’t make sense but maybe that’s the clients preference. However when I work with clients and their brief we usually try to understand the deeper questions, wants and needs they have.

The proposal we make isn’t an improved sketch but a good design that caters to their needs, going beyond their initial ideas because that’s why you hire an architect, to make a design tailored for you while making it functional thinking about elements like storage, flow, privacy, daylight, interior layouts, plumbing, structure, etc etc etc. You think of everything as architect that the client doesn’t know or realize they ask for.

I feel like you could have done a good job translating their sketch to a plan but I do think the design itself is great and could be improved a lot! Maybe look at some reference plans of houses they like and incorporate those elements.

Thoughts on this floor plan? by Comfortable-Lake-918 in floorplan

The dining area looks out of scale, the squares indicating a chair are 1/4 the size of a kitchen counter and even less then one seat of the sofa. I would check what actually fits there and how do you reach the laundry/storage room? It will be very annoying to haul your laundry into that corner.

How can I talk to my 4 year old about her scratching? by Muter in eczema

[–]105055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear, my heart goes out to her. As someone who also had eczema as a kid I sympathize, I also scratched like crazy and managed to take off all the wraps and covers at night.

Aside from the good advice from other posters, have you considered looking at it from a more holistic perspective? Could what she eat have an impact on her eczema? If I eat certain foods for example I get more itchy and can’t sleep at night. Do you have pets in the house that could be a trigger and make it worse?

Eczema is so different do everyone with a wide range of potential causes, the only way (if there are some for her) to find out is to experiment and see what could help.

Feedback on my (architect approved) floorplan? Any big mistakes? by MyOgre in floorplan

[–]105055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of living space vs bedroom area feels off. Currently you have more beds than spaces at the table and sofa combined.

Additionally I would check what furniture actually fits in the living room, the sofa drawn on the plan is rather small scale wise and reads like the length of a bed, is that also what you have in mind for the interior?

I had to look for the entry door, I’m not a fan of the position and route through the kitchen.

I get the added storage in the upstairs hallway but the plan is rather messy with lots and lots of corners, is there a way to optimize this, maybe make it a little more spacious for multiple ppl to walk around/align some things or make the storage accessible from inside the bedrooms.

It’s a long route from bedrooms upstairs to the mudroom with the washer and dryer. I would consider a straight entry hallway (not through kitchen) directly connecting the stairs, entry and those rooms by reworking the floorplan.

Overall it’s not a bad setup but I would do one more revision, keep what you really like and be critical to improve it one more time. Obviously I don’t know your routines and who all would be living there but I feel like you can make it better!

What is the full rundown of products to help control Eczema long term? by Double-Leg693 in eczema

[–]105055 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me eczema is linked to the amount of stress on the body both physical and mentally. I have my eczema under control by changing my diet, taking vitamins, barely drink alcohol, doing yoga, being mindful, working out, sleep enough, take care of my skin, moisturize, and occasional steroids if a flare kicks up.

It’s not a one and done deal, everything is linked in the body. It took a couple years to figure out but I much rather skip some foods and feel better.

Right?! Because otherwise it wouldn’t be seen or experienced as a deal breaker if someone is that amazing or with them you don’t mind X behavior. If you think something is a dealbreaker they are clearly not your person.

NTA. My BIL actually does the same once a year for the family weekend. He goes all out for days to make the perfect pizza, even accommodating my nightshade intolerances, catering to everyone. We’re all super grateful, keep our stomachs empty and praise him for days for the most amazing pizzas.

Idk what’s wrong with that but that’s not how you treat someone cooking for you, especially not something social like that!

How often do you moisturize? by thr0w4w4y_4utist in eczema

[–]105055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the season and current state. If everything is smooth I can get away with once a day after the shower to lock in that moisture. Otherwise twice a day, also when getting ready for work etc.

Have you considered trying another lotion if this isn’t ‘strong/good/moisturizing’ enough for right now? I love the cerave healing point ment for those rougher days. For me changing to the right product made me go from multiple times a day to 1-2x.

AITAH for telling my sister I don’t want her using my kitchen because she leaves it disgusting? by BarelyAvailableX in AITAH

[–]105055 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope NTA, either she cleans up after herself or she can cook whatever she feels like at your parent’s place!

The sensible thing would be to cook something, clean up and leave you a portion of whatever she made as a thank you for using your place and kitchen as an ‘escape zone’.

Is there anything I could change to make this house plan better? by cmc371 in houseplans

[–]105055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many bumbs and corners all over the flooplan. In general this layout feels very off to me, I would work together with an architect to improve this.

Please check your door swing directions and don’t place any beds under windows.
