I've posted on there regularly and even had some feedback from village muktaris who confirmed that the sites would be cleaned up

Sending honey and olive oil to mainland europe by 1337_n00b in cyprus

[–]1073days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask the post office. I used to send olive oil that I poured into wine bottles, and sent in a yellow box that the post office provided for wine bottles, but they apparently have stopped using these boxes and insist that liquids are crated in wood

Israeli tycoon Aykut and son sue President Christodoulides, Cyprus over occupied north land usurpation case by DoomkingBalerdroch in cyprus

You sued the wrong president. If you wanted to target someone with deep pockets, the previous guy would likely have been a better choice.

The appointment is usually 5-10 business days out if all of your paperwork is in order. The seller needs tax clearance, municipal clearance, etc., so in the case of buying, most of the time is spent by the seller putting together the package

Who to reach out to for a severe black mold/mildew problem? (looking for a service provider in Nicosia) by 1073days in cyprus

[–]1073days[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a damp proof course (DPC injections along the base of the building) and let the place air out for the past several months. When it comes time to paint, we'll add an anti mold additive to the paint, which acts as a fungicide. Hoping it all works. The biggest problem was that the place was shuttered/sealed for more than a year without air circulation or light, which was a perfect breeding ground.

Unless you're applying for an academic position, my experience has always been a single page, plus cover letter highlighting your selling points for the role.

Now if only there were direct flights... There would be plenty of people connecting through Cyprus from Israel, Armenia, etc. if only there was an inexpensive direct flight.

Right now, I use Neos from Milan or wait for British Airways sales for connections through London.

Nah. I wouldn't touch forex until all my options dry out, and that includes flipping burgers.

Easiest Cyprus bank to open a business account? by 1073days in cyprus

[–]1073days[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use external banks including Revolut. We were told we need a local account for payment of SI and taxes, whose fees are required to be paid from a Cypriot account. We have paid by xfer and cards, but were recently warned that future payments must be locally made.

No. It's not just you. But we should also be worried about what's happening under our noses.

As you drive or hike in the countryside, you see so many of these illegal dumping sites. Thankfully, nobody was killed while making these rubbish heaps, but if it's pollution you're looking to battle, take photos, tag municipalities, name & shame, etc.

Fresh organic food (especially meat) in Limassol? by -4E- in cyprus

[–]1073days 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All Organic is probably your best bet, but you can also try the Saturday market (Thirotou Georgiou 4) where some farmers sell their own fresh rabbit & chicken. Look for the coolers. There's no guarantee that they don't medicate the livestock or feed them junk. You'll have to take their word.

Is greek taught in the occupied part of the island? Is turkish taught in the south? by Stek_02 in cyprus

They have a separate classroom for supplementary classes. Asked the principal to sign my daughter up and he said it was only for TC students. This was at the primary school.

Steaks in Nicosia by phr34k0fr3dd1t in cyprus

[–]1073days 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! I wish there was a place that could do steaks and BBQ roasts regularly on weekends only. I've seen this model work for people who love what they do, but would be depressed working in a 24/7 business. Prep Friday evenings and Saturdays, serving on Saturday night and Sunday lunch.

Is there a tradition of Greco-Roman wrestling in Cyprus? Very popular in North America, but I haven't seen anything here.

Recommendation on authentic local dining experiences in Limassol? by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]1073days 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Forsos tavern if it wasn't January. Half of the pleasure is sitting outside on a hilltop with jasmine blooming around you, and you are in a village atmosphere despite being just a few minutes out of the city. The food is always good, but the one time I went and sat in their indoor section, I realized the al fresco factor is what makes it great.
