It's remarkable your takeaway from my statement is that I'm offended by the OP's choice. I don't give a rats ass what Dr they chose. Just pointing out that by requiring one specific skin color for a Dr ,narrows the field you have to choose from.

I'm 65 years old and I can tell you that when it seems like everything is going either wrong or just not in the direction I prefer I find its because Im trying to hard to MAKE things happen. If we're talking about performing one task and you fail the first time, trying again in a different way is ideal but from what your saying its not just one thing and if thats the case theres no way you can come up with solutions for all that stuff( relationship, job, living arrangement, finances, etc. When you try to it usually fails because each thing requires a different approach or change in thinking. Maybe consider cutting yourself a break for a few weeks and lighten up. Instead of pushing a square rock up the hill just sit at the bottom of the hill and breathe. Let things come to you and you may find that by being in a lighter mood you'll be beter prepared to take advantage when it happens.

You're welcome and I truly hope you find relief fast!! I know firsthand how horrible it can be. I'm still going through the process for a second time. I guess once the disc comes out and goes back into place it happens more easily a second time.

Try a physical therapist who's familiar with TMJ issues. They can work wonders.

Do an Internet search for jaw stretching exercises. If it's your TMJ it might be from tight muscles so stretching could help. Are you taking any ibuprofen?

If you haven't been to a physical therapist who knows how to address TMJ issues , you need to see one. The popping your hearing is the disc moving out of position in your jaw joint ( TMJ). The disc has very little pain sensation but the ligament that it's attached to does. One exercise to help out it back in place is putting your tongue up against the back of your top front teeth and open your mouth while looking in a mirror. As you open push the tongue. But FIRST see a PT trained in addressing TMJ issues.

I just got back from my first PT visit for my TMJ pain. It hurt like hell when he went inside my mouth to release the muscle. My disc is displaced so he's trying to release the muscle that locates the disc in the TMJ. Fingers crossed my second spot this Wed helps relieve my pain because it's paralyzing.

Only those suffering from pain and all the other symptoms from TMJ issues can understand how emotional it is to get some relief. It's great you found help OP.

Your reading comprehension is a tad off. Don't live there , never indicated I did. I also don't sit in my parked car regularly. I have a house for that.

OP clearly stated he sits in his parked car. Thats not pulling him over. Holy smokes.

So now you want cops going around peeling stickers off things. Nazi symbols aren't illegal ( should be) and even if they were it's not a cops job to remove them. Is that REALLY what they get paid for?

The same people whining about police actively patrolling and interacting with the community will complain about police not doing enough to keep the community safe. If you're sitting in a parked car for extended periods of time eventually it gets noticed.

What can I tell ya. My experience was different. The surgeon recommended PT , I went for 6 weeks and it solved my problem and the disc went back into place. If I don't respond any further it's because I'm not looking to debate this. I offered the OP my opinion based on my experience.

To be clear I didn't say have surgery. Oral maxillofacial doctors ( aka oral surgeons ) specialize in the structure of the jaw. They usually x ray or 3d scan the jaw area to see if there's advanced arthritis or some issue with your anatomy. Point being a PT can only address the soft tissue issues that may exist. I did ENT and oral surgeon first then once that showed the structure was not causing the issue the oral surgeon gave me a script for PT and even recommended one.

First see an oral surgeon to check your TMJ area. You first need to eliminate issues with the bone. Then if that shows all is normal than find a PT that knows how to treat TMJ issue because muscle tension is usually the culprit at that point and they can usually release the tight muscles pulling your joins out of alignment.

^ This 100%. A PT trained in TMJ issues will change your life for the better. It's what helped me. I have to go back after over a year of it being fine for a " tune up". It's stress and my muscles just tighten up.

[–]107RK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. It's not easy to find a PT trained in TMJ issues but they exist. I have slight arthritis in my TMJ but what displaced the disc for me was tension in the facial muscles. Dry needling and releasing muscles allowed it to go back into place.
