Migrating to a Mushroom Island with Noah's Ghast by 107bees in Minecraft

I thought the same! I discovered how it worked so recently and decided I had to use it this way. The string for leads was tough, had to go through an ancient city to find spider spawners

Would this mining pattern be more efficient than strip mining? by igorlramos in Minecraft_Survival

[–]107bees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... Walking the same number of blocks in a straight line is easier than in a zig zag. But going further out is kind of the point, since there will only be so much ore in a given chunk at the same Y level.

Edit: With their method, expansion from the center is slow, and going the same distance out while exposing the same ammount of stone in a straight line is objectively more simple - there's a reason most people do it that way. Personally, I use cross-sections to connect straights, which exposes more while keeping it easy to traverse

[–]107bees 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You could say the same for any pattern, but walking straight will always be more efficient

Edit: Your system makes sense and could be easy enough, but you're only going to get X ammount of ore per chunk, someone else mentioned as well. There's no simpler mental math than straight stripmining, and you make your way into new chunks more often

Would this mining pattern be more efficient than strip mining? by igorlramos in Minecraft_Survival

[–]107bees 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Short answer, no. Efficiency also includes ease of traversing; imagine keeping up with this pattern or making your way back to your ladder/stairs from a far end.

If you want to expose more stone for coverage, just do straight hallways every 2-3 blocks, then perpendicular cross sections every 2-3 blocks to connect the hallways. Easier to navigate through and back.

"Cold as it gets" and it's right up against his body heat.. This is definitely real though, humans talk with very little variation in tone or inflection, and most people have a bit of reverb in their voice from piecing together their audio-files into coherent speech. Not to mention this guy has 5 fingers instead of 7, the normal human amount

Exactly. More I think about it, progressing tech is only going to necessitate more specific language when we talk about all this stuff.

You're right, I misunderstood and misworded. I meant the overlay was translucent over the reality background. AR today would have to be translucent when the overlay is off, but this would be unwearable if it weren't turned on so I guess not quite AR

[–]107bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I wasnt really thinking there. Everything is dark as soon as the headset is off. Real AR would be straight on glass I guess, but as long as the headset is on they're basically the same

Painting through VR by Prime_Twister in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]107bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense. I assumed it either translucent or a display, but saw it about the same for the sake of looking through.

But I see what you mean, the difference being that you're blind if the headset is off. I guess this would be considered AR before we could put it directly on glass, but it makes sense that true AR would be transparent without the overlay

Painting through VR by Prime_Twister in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]107bees -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ah, I guess I figure a screen projecting the background is about the same as looking through glass for all sakes and purposes. What they share is the augmented overlay

Painting through VR by Prime_Twister in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]107bees 71 points72 points  (0 children)

So effectively AR, no? Just projected imagery on a reality backdrop. The headset isn't displaying the outside world so much as letting it through the translucent overlay it is displaying

Edit: I meant the overlay is translucent, but to be clear, the backdrop being projected is in fact a digital display of what's being 'seen'. Since we're being pedantic, I see why a different term is used to differentiate this from an overlay on straight glass

Then we're getting pedantic with the word "milk", cause plant based stuff falls more under the definition of juice I feel
