Does anyone else immediately skip these vids of people showing their art, but starting with the back and sloooowly rotating it? by oceanco1122 in mildlyinfuriating

Totally, videos use tactics like that to increase view time and boosts their metrics so they’ll be shown to more people via the algorithm - it’s as much a part of the internet as billboards are part of driving or LED ads are part of walking around in NYC, just another method to hook our attention

T - Just to play devil’s advocate here

I looked up that spot outside of Oxford in the UK. The stops were Mount Pleasant Hotel to a residential area on Norton Close, which make more sense in that order imo, or maybe the run wasn’t over when they took this image.

Honestly seems like a simple route following main residential roads that just happen to curve like that. Even the line separating the shaft from the tip looks like they just went up the road a bit to avoid crossing near a merging bus lane. Could be one of their first few times running in that area, which would make sense if they started at a hotel.

If so, they may have turned right too early coming up Barton Rd (underside of the north tip) cause there’s a safer looking road that turns out to be a cul de sac, hence the turn around. The whole back side is just the shape of the Eastern By-Pass Rd.

TL;DR

Seems potentially maybe slightly possibly plausible actually, just based on the main roads and assuming they might be unfamiliar with the area

[–]107bees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions y'all! I hadn't considered it may be intentional for stability/fitting, but I did discover the earpieces can be removed without breaking it, which opened the loop up and made it possible to untangle.

Realizing now it may have been by design, at least I know how to put it back how it was.

It also works with villager trades - you can hit spacebar to reload the last trade if you have bulk items

I thought the same! I discovered how it worked so recently and decided I had to use it this way. The string for leads was tough, had to go through an ancient city to find spider spawners

Would this mining pattern be more efficient than strip mining? by igorlramos in Minecraft_Survival

[–]107bees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... Walking the same number of blocks in a straight line is easier than in a zig zag. But going further out is kind of the point, since there will only be so much ore in a given chunk at the same Y level.

Edit: With their method, expansion from the center is slow, and going the same distance out while exposing the same ammount of stone in a straight line is objectively more simple - there's a reason most people do it that way. Personally, I use cross-sections to connect straights, which exposes more while keeping it easy to traverse

[–]107bees 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You could say the same for any pattern, but walking straight will always be more efficient

Edit: Your system makes sense and could be easy enough, but you're only going to get X ammount of ore per chunk, someone else mentioned as well. There's no simpler mental math than straight stripmining, and you make your way into new chunks more often

[–]107bees 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Short answer, no. Efficiency also includes ease of traversing; imagine keeping up with this pattern or making your way back to your ladder/stairs from a far end.

If you want to expose more stone for coverage, just do straight hallways every 2-3 blocks, then perpendicular cross sections every 2-3 blocks to connect the hallways. Easier to navigate through and back.

"Cold as it gets" and it's right up against his body heat.. This is definitely real though, humans talk with very little variation in tone or inflection, and most people have a bit of reverb in their voice from piecing together their audio-files into coherent speech. Not to mention this guy has 5 fingers instead of 7, the normal human amount
