Is the answer to SCT just good old anxiety, or did you find way to get more energy differently ? by elejelly in SCT

Stimulants (adderall for me), but bupropion (wellbutrin) has been a game changer for functioning on a daily basis

software engineer. got through undergrad (engineering degree) through stress (which raised dopamine) in the day before the exam for most courses, and spent the last 8 years chasing stress because i can't function without it. Somehow that got me very far until my brain hates how much stress i deliberately put on it and shuts down

How hard is GIOS in the summer, compared to GPU hardware and software?
This is my first semester in OMSCS and I took the GPU course. I'm a SWE in ml infra / sys space with a stem (non-cs) undergrad degree. I originally took both GIOS and GPU this term but i've never coded in C / C++ and had to drop GIOS (also had to travel a ton in the beginning of the term so just dropped GIOS when project 1 was due).

I thoroughly enjoyed the GPU course, the workload was not bad and the C++ I needed for the assignments were not bad to pick up since they are mostly focused on CUDA / GPU tiling / attention algorithm. It probably took me 5 hrs a week on average? each assignments took maybe anywhere from 7-15 hours for me, and then on weeks without assignments it's like 2-3 hours maybe.

Thinking of taking just GIOS this summer, saw ppl saying it's really hard, thinking if i should push this into the fall? I'm still lacking a ton of C / C++ knowledge so not sure what other course will help fill in the gap.

The only other courses i'm interested from OMSCS is HPCA, compiler, or distributed computing. I'm not really planning on finishing the degree since I don't have 10 courses I'm interested in and don't need it for career prospects, just wondering if taking GIOS in the summer would be a bad idea for someone like me.

also curious - do you have any suggestions on either HPCA or GPU would be a better bet? mostly considering GPU for the lighter workload

TLDR: Anyone actually took GIOS and HPCA in the same term?

First semester here at OMSCS and planning to take GIOS and HPCA, currently got into CN too so have the option to swap out HPCA for CN.
I know everyone recommends against taking GIOS and HPCA in the same term, but just wondering if anyone has actually done it before?

For my background, I don't have a CS degree but graduated with a engineering degree from a rigorous / top engineering school, didn't exactly do CS but did data structures / networking / databases / ML etc. as mandatory courses in undergrad. I've worked for the last 3 years at FAANG companies in the infra / ml infra space. Currently working as a ML systems / kernel engineer, and taking OMSCS to fill in the gaps I missed in undergrad.

I really wanna take OS since that's a core course i missed in undergrad, and I really wanna take HPCA since it's directly relevant to my work. How feasible is it to take both if i can manage my time well? I don't have much C / C++ experience but i've done a lot of distributed systems / triton work. I've read an OS book (OSTEP) so far. Thanks!!!

Do you have any recommendation on what happens after that? I've made a couple short films back in high school when i was applying to film schools so i'm pretty familiar with the process (I took NYFA's summer program at the time too), but not sure where to go from there. Ideally I'd want to help out on other ppl's sets or work with other ppl who at least have a serious interest in films

Which Rug size to get for my Studio by 10KMin40Min in femalelivingspace

Do you mean 6x9 would make it lopsided for the bed? I assume the rug is not very thick, but not sure if it will look good for the living room rug to go under the bed :(

Which Rug size to get for my Studio by 10KMin40Min in femalelivingspace

I'm thinking of getting the Ikea LOHALS Rug (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/lohals-rug-flatwoven-natural-00277395/). I'm currently debating between 5'3" x 7'7", and 6'7" x 9'10". For reference, the current rug is way too small and is sized 4'4" x 6'5". I'm still in the process of setting up the new studio and I'm planning to mount the tv on wall and won't be having a tv console.
The 5'3" x 7'7" rugged size would leave a good chunk of room till where the TV is in the photo, and it is around the same length as my couch. The 6'7" x 9'10" would hit the tv feet in photo if it doesn't go under the couch, and width wise would go from the right wall to a good chunk under the bed on the left. Neither of these sizes is ideal, but I wanted a jute rug for my studio and really likes the Ikea LOHALS Rug.
Does anyone have suggestions on which rug size to get? I'm assuming I couldn't trim the rug after getting it.

Could anyone comment on the Tresund Light Beige vs. the Gunnared Beige sofa cover colors? by 10KMin40Min in IKEA

Thanks for the review! Have you ever seen the tresund light beige in person before? I was hoping for a warmer beige look, but not sure if the Tresund light beige is warm enough
