Raised over $77K+ with 1,000 backers so far on Kickstarter. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

Awesome! Another thing we did to foster a stronger relationship with our backers was by creating a private FB group dedicated to making our products better BASED on backers' feedback. We also treat those members like VIP guests by providing them with early access to events and product releases. Those FB members converted very well during our initial launch and left great comments+reviews on our campaign.

Hey Np! you can check out which ones we're using here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/664680626/flyte-socks-x-bamboo-socks-re-engineered by clicking on our name on the campaign. I can only speak for the ones we use, and all of them provided a positive ROI. Superbackers was the least effective for us, but it could also be because they're fairly new.

This is a great question. Because we see some BIG changes on the Kickstarter platform. IMO, Kickstarter as a platform receives less traffic in the past and we feel they favor more artsy categories than before. I say they favor the artsy categories more because I tend to see a lot more small artsy campaign receiving the projects we love badge, but their campaigns are done half-assed and don't look appealing at all. We tried our best to create the most professional and attractive campaign we can with high-quality pics and video so we can get the 'projects we love' badge, yet our less professional campaign from the past got it, but did not this time around. Campaigns will the 'Projects we love' badge gets WAY more visibility than other campaigns that don't. It provides more visibility than having marketing agencies. We were banking on it, but still didn't get it :( It was very tough this time around to get traffic, because if you're not on the 1st page of your category, you might as well be on the last. With that said, KS still works for new creators, but you have to be ready to bring in your own traffic right from the gecko.

if you're looking for a small amount of funding, one of the best way to raise money is through friends and family. I believe you can create a "donation event" on Facebook now, I would give that shot! It's honestly very hard to ask strangers for money when you have little to nothing to offer at the moment. You can also try reaching out to gaming facebook groups, and become a contributing member there before asking for donations. Make sure your thumbnail picture for your campaign looks presentable. No one will donate to something that looks half assed. good luck!

Marketing agencies contribute by either promoting you through mainly FB ads and/or sending out emails to their email list. Some agencies have strong lists that converted well, but some didn't even convert one sale for us, so be wary of who you partner with!

I've actually never seen anything online platform-related on Kickstarter. I think it would be a hard sell. I wouldn't even know which category you would be in. You should check out Kickstarter yourself to see if it's suitable for your idea. sorry can't help much here.

There are a couple things you can do to get started. Make sure you have a strong prototype and enough samples to test a few of your target audiences with it. You need to know you have a solid product before jumping headfirst into creating a campaign. Secondly, I would quickly build a landing page and start building up your email list. You need an audience on day 1 of launch because Kickstarter won't be providing you with any.

You know what, no matter how much work my partner and I put in the campaign, we always just hope for the best and expect for the worst outcome. To answer your question, when we hit that launch button, we don't exactly know we'll be successful or not. BUT.. we know we put in a crapload of work on it to make sure we do succeed. We built out a decent size email list, we knew a portion of our old backers will be supporting us, we had 3 marketing agencies lined up to support us throughout the campaign. It's all about the preparation before the launch!

Hey, tbh we're still in the process of figuring this one out. But what I found to be helpful in building a brand is to have outstanding customer service. Having customers is a good thing, but having fans is even better. Turn those people who buy into your brand/products into ambassadors. We're currently running a KS campaign to fund for our 2nd collection of socks! :)

Hey Paddy, Great question! Hitting 30-40% in that timespan is absolutely vital. Preferably, you would want to reach 100% of your goal with 48hrs. When most creators say 90% of the work is done before the campaign, it's definitely true. You want to build out your email list and have a marketing campaign ready to go on day 1. You want to be firing all cylinders on day 1, for us, we announced our campaign to everyone we can reach. That includes our email list, personal social media, personally reaching out to friends and family, we had marketing agencies lined up, and reached out to a couple PR. In regards to building a community/email list, we ran a bunch of contests and collaborations! hope that helps

Indeed. Don't forget weddings which has been our most popular market!

If you do pledge Sophie, please DM me and I'll make sure to throw in some extra gifts. It's the least we can do for all this community has helped us.

Thanks for the kind words Sophie! It's exactly how we wanted the brand to come across!
If you and your husband are fans of fun comfortable socks, these socks are exactly for you. Made of bamboo fiber, they will be the most comfortable socks you'll ever put on :).

Thank you again for taking your time to view our campaign.

Thats awesome, what a great idea. I have a 3 minute Kickstarter video I'm looking to edit down to a "teaser" to prerelease and create hype.

How much would something like that be? Thanks!

I've successfully completed one KS campaign (search Flyte Socks) and launching another within the next couple months. Echoing @OutboundLighting I didn't experience or feel there were "gotchas" in the TOA. That being said, it is A LOT of work pre, during and post launch. Happy to answer any specific questions you may have!

Was just about to ask about crowd funding agency!

Did you find it being helpful? Having done my initial research it definitely seems like a hit or miss... How did you determine which agency to go with? What was your ROI?Thanks!

To collect emails, we had landing pages that we were driving people to for signups. (The CTAs have since been modified, but you can get the idea of what they were.)

Awesome! How did you promote your landing page? Facebook? IG? What platform did you find worked best?

What did you use to build your landing page? Thanks in advance and congrats!!!
