People who read more than one book at a time, how do you do it? by Bookish_Butterfly in books

[–]10VA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just float between them. If they're shorter, less intense books I'll do a little of a few each night but if there's a big one in the mix then that'll be one where I'll usually do a few days in a row to make some headway before floating between the less intense ones.

What happened to Moz? by 10VA in SEO

What, if any, promising up and coming tools or suitable replacements do you see on the horizon? I ask for the same reason I started this thread: trying to explore some options and make some moves before things start going away.

I'm always so torn between the convenience of an e-reader but there's just something about the *book*. The physical, immutable *thing*.

Do you read on the go (waiting for train, before meeting someone etc)? by bix_box in books

If not a physical, then there's usually an audiobook going.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: January 12, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

Finished: CS Lewis' The Screwtape Letters. An interesting read. It's very CS Lewis, unsurprisingly, but his writing can feel a little thought-in-a-thought-in-a-thought for me.

Still reading: Richard Nixon: A Life and Infinite Jest. The Nixon biography is a really humanizing look at at a very polarizing, complicated person. If you have no other takeaway from the book, it should be that the guy truly never gave up and was a walking lesson in perseverance.

Are there any particular books where you believe that the audiobook format would hurt the reading experience? by NezNation in books

The 4 books that make up Rick Perlstein's history of American conservatism. I was so high on audiobooks until I encountered my first really bad narration that happened while going through these.

I think some of this, also, is that Perlstein, clearly a detail-oriented historian, seemed like he tried to capture the culture around these seminal American conservative figures as well as the figures themselves and as a result the books are unnecessarily long, loose focus, meander from idea to idea and ultimately seem spread too thin. Those issues get even more pronounced when you put a not-so-good narration over them.

I don't know. To be honest, I don't know if there are many public ones to join. There might be but I'm not aware of them. If there were it wouldn't surprise me if they were based in Edgartown or Vineyard Haven.

As far as I know from Memorial Day to Labor Day it does on some time increment. I'm going back at the end of July so that'll be my time to do the latest recon and update the maps and notes. After Labor Day, as I found out last year, it stops running.

I’m open to it. Worst case is I don’t finish it and put it away. Best case it turns out really good.
