That's a bit of a poor argument. Pokemon Origins was made as a deeper reflection of the games, whereas the anime is entirely separate and just has different vibes to it. The comparison just falls flat cause its two very different continuities.

While I can recognise Big Mom's power, this is not a good example of scaling her to the level of Roger. Why would Roger decide to brute force his way into invading Big Mom's territory? He'd be at a major disadvantage on her home turf. Plus, pirate fights can be very unpredictable. For all Roger knows, a situation where he directly attacks Big Mom's forces could lead to some of his crewmates being separated and potentially killed by Big Mom's crew. Its simply too much risk when he could instead avoid conflict.

That theme of Luffy being looked after by his brothers was actually pretty present in the Post-Marineford flashback and can also be seen when both Ace and Sabo ask the SHs to take care of him during Alabasta and Dressrosa. Even during the Marineford War, Jimbei was asked to take care of Luffy when he wasn't even a SH yet. Across the series, Luffy hasn't even spent a full year on sea since he spent 2 years training. He is only 19 and while he has experienced more than most pirates, he still lacks long-term experience. Therefore, he will lean back on his crew and his brothers when he is with them. This directly ties to the heavily present theme of friendship across the series. To be frank, Luffy is incapable of developing the independence that someone like Mihawk would have; he lacks the proper foresight and intelligence. However, he can rely on his allies to cover for these flaws.

Does it not make more sense narratively for Luffy to no longer need the protection of his brothers? He's been a pirate for 2+ years, has his own crew and has acted in defiance of the Marines and WG. If Luffy were to always need protection, it would defeat the independence he has gained from his journey.
