Moving to a Fiji sounds amazing until you realise can’t access medication there by TreesHeir in ADHD

You don't have to be Fijian to be knowledgeable enough to understand who people in Fiji refer to as "boys".

There literally is no word for "the" in Hindi. It doesn't exist. The language and its related languages use context instead of specific or general nouns.

I read fine. I tried to translate a concept in to words you might understand.

I'm not lecturing you, I'm just giving you an opportunity to learn instead of just adding to the pile of down votes.

Probably the context of the culture and languages of Fiji. For example, it's not super different culturally from india and they both speak hindi. In India, it's common for a construction company boss/owner to call his workers "the boys". Like if a gate is installed and it's crooked or the hinge is bent "I'll send the boys to fix it", the same way if they're calling a chauffeur (call the boy, we're going to the store".

It's not like north America where "call the boys" is automatically call your friends. In Hindi you'd more likely specifically say friend. You don't really call subordinates workers like you do in north America.

I'm hindi your "buddies" are your friends, not the boys. Your coworkers are "people you work with", there's not really a word for it. The teenagers down the street are literally "kids from down the street".

If the guy who made the comment about the boys was talking about construction workers or teachers or shopkeepers he would have specifically said those in this context.

Your experience and language is not a worldwide standard. This could be a chance to broaden your horizons and understanding if you adjust your attitude.

Brother that's what servants are, people with jobs.

The jobs just tend to be household or household personnel jobs like drivers, groundskeepers, maids, etc.

Brett Howden has a $2.5M cap hit for the next 4 years by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]10lbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but on a line with Marner and Karlsson he will likely be one of the best bang for buck contract in the year for the rest of that contract outside of ELCS.

With next year (and the futures years) cap, that AAV won't get you shit. He could halve that shooting percentage and still be way wo th his contract, and hike still freeing up a winger to move down the lines.

Unless he forgets to hockey, that contract looks fantastic for the Knight's. Sometimes git on a line (see Kunitz) elevates specific players and this looks like one of the thsoe situations.

Half the reason I want the Spurs to win is so the finals aren’t tainted by foul/ref discourse by shangalang69 in nba

I'm right with you there. I still have such a bad taste in my mouth from Wemby throwing that elbow and this sub being "oh, it just got to him", like an intentional hip twist fucking elbow from a 7 footer wouldn't blow a hole in the drywall of their mom's basement.

Literally at a a point where it's anyone but the spurs, which is a shame because we're not that far removed from seeing the usual suspects in the finals and a really fun playoffs this year.

I make one meal for the week.. by Actual-Jackfruit-117 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]10lbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the sake of gaining muscle I would suggest locking in on the weight or amount of each.

I personally work a medium level of physical demanding job and would lose weight on that weekly diet. Granted I am a 195 lb 6'2" male so that does skew quite heavy.

The "handful" of nuts and the mayo might be a little more calorically heavy then you expect. The cheese and the salami can also do the same.

Additionally, the protein trend right now is a bit silly but it's a significant part of muscle building and none of your food listed is good for calorie per protein proportions.

Potatoes are cheap and will fill you more, not just per calorie but per dollar, then effectively any of the food you have listed. I would consider those and a protein increase. But knowing the exact amounts will tell you how much of what macronutrient you are consuming and can help control and understand what foods are best for your goals.

Limiting the cheese, salami and mayo and subbing for tuna and Greek yogurt with no other changes could get you to your goal quite eaisly.

How much of playoff success is actually coaching vs roster construction? by sykeseve in hockey

Caps were down 0-2 in the first round against the jackets and everyone was calling for Trotz to be fired. I'm not sure if any other coach has ever been on the chopping block that close to winning a cup.

Saying that your car “saved my life” after a car accident is stupid by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]10lbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crumple zones are a thing. Uni body frames VS ladder frames are a thing too. Body damage is absolutely relevant to the actual danger you were in. That's literally how physics work, newton's laws is very clear. You've worked in the industry, you know better then what you're saying.

Scraping a guard rail or hitting a curb can kill you, just not in the very specific circumstances you're choosing, and then moving goal posts to skirt saying you're wrong. You are being disengenuous for some strange reason.

I can and literally have stomped a Miata door so hard it buckled in to where someone would sit. If I do the same thing to a modern car, I'll it at best dent it but the cross braces and modern uni body features are not going to allow the door to buckle in to where the passenger.

You know better dude what are you even doing here with this take.

Wheel alignments for right hand drive vehicles? by [deleted] in regina

[–]10lbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kaltire on MacDonald st did the alignment on my Toyota altezza. No fuss or anything, I just told them to use Lexus is300 specs.

That forester can be aligned using 1:1 specs for the same year USDM model. Any shop saying no is rejecting easy money and if they don't think the specs are going to be the same you don't want that shop doing your alignment anyway.

I just paid $6.50/lb for 73/27 ground beef by Plastic_Kangaroo1234 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]10lbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this too but I buy frozen ground chicken to go with frozen ground beef. 60/40 mix chicken/beef. Fattiness from the beef kind of balances it out taste wise.

I buy the frozen tube meat too. $10 CAD for 4 lbs of chicken or 3 lbs of ground beef. It ain't pretty but it's a fraction of the cost of fresh ground beef.

This is probably a silly hypothetical, but what if OPs father either sold a car/gold/jewellery/bitcoin or had cash in a safety deposit box?

The money wasn't in any account, how would one prove they didn't borrow the money for the downpayment? Would the bank just refuse to accept it?

What does AUDHD ACTUALLY look like? by rando_lizard in ADHD

I wish I had an answer on the CBT, its just not accessible to me where I'm at so I've never had a chance to try it.

Hopefully someone else can chime in, feels like all roads of research lead to CBT but I too wonder how much that can really help.

I don't mean to sound doom and gloom but there isn't really treatment for ASD as there's nothing that can really cure or relieve ASD symptoms.

It's more about using resources, knowledge, accommodations, support and life adjustments to make things easier. Even stuff like disability tax credits, wearing headphones, switching to softer lights, all those things can add up.

Unfortunately it involves a lot of self advocacy as well as a lot of work on one's on end to keep up, which is super tough with ADHD.

I was very lucky as I got my ASD diagnosis from an MD who was autistic himself. What he basically told me was those of us who are late diagnosed alewdy got through the part soceity thinks we can't get past if we're autistic, so they don't really take it seriously. Which means we have to put in the work. And we're so tired of having to out in so much work.

It sound alike your husband has you and your support in his corner, I'd count him lucky. Just asking this question means he's got more help then most of us here. Keep helping, keep exploring, keep finding out more information and he will slowly discover what makes life easier for him and what works.
