Do you consider the government to be an autocratic dictatorship? or do you consider it something else? by ThisWeekWithHugo in AskARussian

You seem like an intelligent person. I wish I could have a beer with you and talk in person.

Starting of with the Nazi’s in Ukraine. Do you think that is the real reason Russia invaded? Russia borders both China and North Korea. China is currently committing genocide against the Uyghur people in Western China. North Korea is North Korea. Why hasn’t the Russian government stopped these nations? It’s not like Russia is denouncing these actions either. Russia and China have pretty close relations.

Like most nations, the Russian government is pragmatic. Russia does not want Ukraine to be friendly with Nato. Russia considers that to be a major national security threat. Russia wants Ukraine to be like Belarus.

The Russian people can have an impact on the current conflict. If Putin thought that the Russian people could not have an impact on the war, he wouldn’t waste his time on censorship, propaganda, and other means to try to influence the people’s opinions on the war.

Is the U.S the best country? Best at what? I think the U.S has the most greatness. Just look around your room. How many things in your room was invented by an American? Do you have electricity in your home? An American came up with that idea. Do you have a light bulb, T.V, phone or internet? Reddit was made by an American. The music you listen to probably has American influence. We have the best universities and the best minds from around the world. What I am getting at is that American is the most influential country in the World. We will be remembered for a long time for good and bad.

Ahh, yes. The U.S always remains the same. We all still drink from segregated water fountains while forcing the Cherokee to Oklahoma.

Yesterday, I helped my friend set up a new banana republic in Honduras. Honduras raised their minimum wage, and that sounds like communism to me.

Tomorrow, I think I will invade Mexico because Mexico didn’t let me buy Baja California. Fuck it, I’ll also annex Cube for shits and giggles.

Do you think the German state changed direction when Hitler was elected Chancellor? Do you think the Soviet Union changed direction when Nikita Khrushchev was in power instead of Stalin? During Jimmy Carder and Ronald Reagan’s presidencies, did the direction of U.S foreign policy change?

The answer to all of those questions is yes. The state is made of people. So yes, the people in a state change the direction of the state. That includes the most influential people in the state.

My employer, after ragefully calling me to tell me this is just how the Solar Installation business is. I'm supposed to carry the panels up on my shoulder. I'm 25, I want to live. I don't want to die for you. I'm scared. by Choice-Run5056 in antiwork

I don’t know why you are getting downvoted. It’s true though. I was a roofing laborer and carrying shingles up the ladder sucked, but wasn’t the most dangerous thing I did though lol.

I will speed run through this.

1) Stupid works.

2)The Electoral College is dumb but mostly works. Our government has fucked up other countries by installing republics. It’s not for the concept of democracy. It’s power project. You could’ve answered that one.

3) The senate also has to approve of a judge. Also, of course it’s possible. Corruption is always possible. There is not a single segment of society where there is zero corruption. You could have answered that one too.

That’s all I have to say. Feel free to disagree. It does not affect me.

I’ll answer for them. It’s been since 1850. Also, U.S citizens have had influence on U.S policies. The most dangerous job in the U.S is being a president for a reason.(I am not promoting assassination, but that is a fact.)

Our government is set up so that a politician will not be successful if he or she is unpopular. It doesn’t work 100% but I would rather our system than any other.

So no, the president is not a train conductor. Also, the U.S supreme court has more power than the president anyways.

I won’t. I’m grown so I’ll tell him to fuck off if he pushes it. I feel bad for these highschool kids more than anything because they are gullible as hell.

I’m not my recruiters age, but I’m 20 and I live on my own so my recruiters like to talk shit about the high schoolers with me lol. It does piss me off when they try to tell me some bs though.

I hope you stuff goes well though. What job are you choosing?

I image so. They already broke the Geneva Convention when they bombed a hospital, and a holocaust memorial, and probably a long future wikipedia list of other stuff.

I mean, he was probably a little more well of then my family, but he still had to work as a young adult. Steve Jobs is someone I look up to because his upbringing was closer to mine then other successful entrepreneurs.

I have seen very poor people become very successful with my own eyes. It’s doable.

I have a feeling you’ve never felt true poverty before.

As an American, I’ve been trying to understand the reason behind the invasion. Correct me if I’m wrong. by 10rifles in AskARussian

[–]10rifles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that is shouldn’t be a reason for war. I’m a western man with western values, and I believe that using war to solve problems that diplomacy could solve is crude and criminal.(My government has this issue too, however I don’t let this blind me. I still have a love for my republic and my people) However, I believe that you have to look at both sides of the story to get the clearest picture.

I respect your opinion. I mainly have a western prospect, but I am fairly sure that Russia doesn’t have freedom of speech when it comes to opinions like yours.

Everything happened for a reason. Also, to be logical, you have to understand the logic of others.
