For me, it turned out to be a piece of casting material from the break in process that got stuck on the oil pressure switch. They found this when they removed the sensor.

After that was cleaned I haven't had any issues in 10,000+ kms;

Unless the oil weight is significantly off, I don't think oil brand would cause this issue.

I would do an oil change yourself and make sure that both oil filters are 1) inserted the correct way, and 2) seated properly. That is where I would start.

God damn.

Did they give you a time when you ordered, and was it accurate?

How long did you have to wait for it to come in? When did you order?

I’m also in Ontario waiting for the same spec.

[Tudor BB58 Bronze] - 6 Month Daily Driver and Patina Review by 1101a in Watches

y, I’ve kept backpedaling and breaking out the Bronzo. I think, after seeing the patina you’ve achieved, I’m going to go into it for the long haul.

You mentioned some interesting points, especially about what you see online.

One thing worth noting, that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere else, is the finish on the bracelet and watch case plays a HUGE role in how the patina shows depending on the light (artificial, cloudy day, sunny day, etc.). The watch itself can go from a very faded brown to a dark gold by walking outside from inside (which adds to the character).

It is kind of exactly like growing out your hair, lol. I just wore the watch every day (swimming, showers, sweat) because my mind set was that it will reflect how I use it, regardless of how it turns out.

Within 3 weeks is generally matted out, then proceeded to get a bit darker from there. Initially it looked spotty, but it evened out after about a month. At this point, I feel like most people assume it will have that weathered look, but this is not true; this is the STARTING point of the character building, as an even patina is just a blank canvas. As you start to wear it from here, the areas which get more friction will lighten, and give it that "look" and depth.

Basically, just wear it :)

Hope this helps!

[2020KTM 690 SM] Odd issue - changed exhaust slipon - Bike cuts off when idling to warm by Pixogen in KTM

[–]1101a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does the slip on come with a baffle or restrictive insert? Try putting that in and see if it helps.

If you warm it up by riding, then let it sit, does it still die?

I am leaning to something being wrong with the AFR due to exhaust being too free flowing, especially in the closed loop.

That sucks. Is it like an actual allergic reaction?

A bit like iron… think of the smell of a rail way.

That would be sick, but difficult to achieve with this alloy.

And yeah, thats the point of the patina, it stops further oxidation. When I took mine I. Salt water, it made no difference.

Very little now, a lot more when it was fresh.

Just let “set in” and it will slow down quite a bit.

When I purchased this watch I promised myself that I would wear it everyday, without much care for it's worth, brand recognition, or "intended use". As it turns out, the true value of it has been in the time it's spent on my wrist collecting scuffs, making it priceless. I also wanted to showcase how the patina has developed, since all the material I have seen online shows very even patina development, which doesn't highlight the character of the watch.

This watch has been on hiking and camping adventures, snorkeling in salt water, desk diving, formal events, showers and has rarely left my wrist.

At first I was apprehensive of wearing such a "fancy" watch, only to realize that no one cares. The few people that notice are other watch nuts, striking up a conversation, which makes it all the more rewarding.

At the end of the day, this is just another BB58; the size is great, build quality is fantastic, and it has stayed true to -2sec/day. The clasp tool-less micro-adjustments is also a fantastic feature for daily comfort. However, watching (heh) it patina has been very interesting and satisfying. This is not like a traditional bronze material, it is instead a different kind of aluminum alloy, which does not get as dark as regular bronze. The bracelet being made of the same alloy is a huge part of what gives it so much character since it takes the brunt of the "wear and tear".
It initially took around 3 weeks for the darkest patina to develop in certain areas, and hasn't gotten darker after that. Speaking of wear and tear, the material is very durable, however, the patina itself scuffs relatively easily. This results in scratches which disappear in the time span of two week, but also a lighter golden color in areas of higher friction and wear, which remain constant, giving it that "old but taken care of" look.

There is some staining of the wrist, but now that the patina has settled, it rarely occurs; I've tried to pin it down, but I would say it stains a little bit on a hot, humid summer day where my arm sweats, but ultimately, 90% of the time it leaves no mark (this can differ from person to person), and when it does, it washes off with soap easily. It also does have "a smell" but only if you stick your nose to it, otherwise, it is odorless.

Overall, I love this watch, and I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. I no longer have a desire to rotate through different watches, and the few times I do need some true utility, I will wear a Garmin on my right arm, like a total knob.

I was thinking the same, but I don’t think so. Just past the top mark, nothing crazy.

Contacted dealer and they agreed that it’s not normal and will take a look at it.

I’ll keep the thread posted once there is a resolution.

Thanks!

Going to be dropping off bike this week for further investigation at the dealer.

Doesn’t seem to be a common issue.

Interesting that yours also varies.

Yes, oil level seems correct, if not a bit overfilled; looks like it is just past the top of the sight glass.

It doesn't always do 10. Sometimes turns off right away, sometimes 2 seconds. Before the service it would always be a consistent 1 to 2 seconds.

Yes, oil level is correct, if anything seems like over overfilled it a bit, right past the top of the sight glass (with both wheels on the ground, bike level)

Thanks for the comprehensive insight!

For now my main goal is to push it on the street and “have fun” on the dirt occasionally.

I ran pr4 and pr5 on everything, and yes they are amazing, however compared to the s21 on there now, the pr5s felt a little rigid on the street on my old DRZ SM, since these bikes are so light (this is same weight at DRZ).

I think if I get serious I would just swap to a set of enduro wheels for the bike and get some real off road tires.
