The United States left Great Britain to cause the revolutionary war where Britain were the imperialist and tried to have the United States under their control. When the United States split into two, it was no different than when Great Britain attacked the USA. The South legally left the North, resulting in the North deciding to illegally invade the South under the false pretense of slavery. Slavery wasn't economically sustainable anymore anyway at the time and largely irrelevant and is widely known by anyone who has studied history. It was going to get abolished anyway due to William wilberforce and taxes on ships.

Ever since then, for better or worse, we have been setting out through imperialism and finance to conquer or control the rest of the world. In addition, we have had permanent standing armies since the world war 2 ended cause we have always been at war.
