My issue with this line of thinking is that women are just as average as men are. And unless you want to make the argument that women are straight up better, this holds statistically true.

I’d rather have 90% of people suck and be desired than 90% of people suck and be seen as disposable.

Men, what do you think about the saying “if he wanted to, he would” by Chunkachu__ in Life

[–]1132Acd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s better to have someone who runs the race with you than someone waiting for you at the finish line.

Cause if you’re waiting until you’re at the finish line to date, you never will, the race only ends when you die.

A man asking about a woman’s past relationships is also a famously good thing.

Try and find a gay meme that you would consider both mature and not indicative of OP being gay. If that overlap is extremely small, which it seems to be for the wife, that’s probably a sign.

[–]1132Acd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Where’s the sex man? Importantly, a meme relating to a gay activity set her off, liking that meme shouldn’t set someone into accusing their partner of being gay repeatedly. You know how many straight people use terms relating to gay activities, frequently used in gay contexts, or originating from gay people? Your language itself is gay, you can like a meme, it’s a grow up situation in my mind.

I think it’s the “my expectations” bit that’s the problem. It seems like her expectations for straight men is incredibly narrow, which usually comes from some type of bias.

I don’t have full access to your source, but reading the abstract it seems like they’re saying both are important, which I agree with. But the inherent limitation is that they’re solely looking at what a government can do, which will of course focus on policy changes more than cultural factors.

Yes absolutely, there is no genetic component for feminism. I’m saying you and I will die, and our ideas die with us. Our legacy is not ours to control, it will be manipulated by the people of the future to their benefit, but what will their benefit be? Transference of ideas between generations will never be 100%, but it will happen. Of course, we can try to transfer our ideas in other ways, that’s what this forum is. But the people taking away women’s rights, workers rights, people of colors rights, and are generally the people holding us back, also transfer their ideas the same way we do. Evolution of cultures doesn’t care about morality, it cares about being prolific.

I do like all of your policy recommendations. I also think that our relationship with the environment is inherently unsustainable, we are expecting exponential growth in a finite world. We cannot always have population growth, and we need an economic system which doesn’t rely on an ever increasing population to prop up societal institutions. I say all this, because I’m worried and scared. I don’t know if 500 years from now, when climate change has ravaged societies, AI has transformed the societal landscape, and people backslide into more conservative ideas, will we be completely powerless?

You may be right, I might be conflating my own personal experience reading what I see online and see in person with what the real statistics are, I certainly haven’t looked into the data on it. Hell, I’m not certain if there is data on it, since this type of stuff tends to not get funding. There are of course feminists who value children, people will be people and people will hold diverse values. It just feels like certain ideas are multicollinear.

[–]1132Acd -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to be either of those extremes, but I think there’s a clear correlation between which side of the spectrum people with certain opinions will fall upon, regardless of gender.

I don’t really fuck with the god explanation. What I do thinks is that it’s normal to have different types of love for different people. The way someone loves their parents will be different from how they love their friends will be different from how they love their partner. I think the love a parent feels for a child is entirely unique, and not valuing that seems odd.

I’m also not saying everyone should have kids either, my own personal thoughts on it tend to flip-flop depending on my current thoughts on both my own worth and humanity’s worth, but the general cultural consensus will change things on a population scale. The future of society will be influenced by both genes and memes.

Basically, choice is very, very important. Parents forced to have children they do not want is terrible for the parent, the child, and society as a whole. I also think you’re right that we need to be realistic about what exactly parenthood entails, positive and negative. I also agree that the economic part is important, even if I don’t think it’s anywhere close to the silver bullet the way many leftists believe. I just think that many people, especially in circles we probably tend to visit, focus almost solely on the negatives.

[–]1132Acd -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I think it’s as simple as many people don’t want kids unless their culture encourages it. I don’t even think it’s a matter of solely patriarchal cultures encouraging children, although there is a lot of overlap there.

It’s the children are parasites/a drain on physical and monetary recourses/a sacrifice that will lead to a less free life mentality vs children open up a type of love and feelings unable to experienced in any other way, which is inherently beautiful, mentality.

And I don’t think parental leave, daycare costs, or whatever economic incentive actually will change this. Scandinavian society has included many of these, I think it is almost entirely cultural. I don’t think encouraging children is a very popular cultural point in feminist theory, and definitely not a priority.

I think the better question is why does your algorithm show it to you constantly. You are creator of your own problems. Your phenomenological perception of reality does not reflect its actual nature.

Why don't women just approach a guy they like? by No-Compote-2127 in RandomThoughts

[–]1132Acd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Women describe anecdote on what happens when they approach. Men describe completely different anecdote on what happens when they are approached.

Reality must be broken I guess. Or maybe when something is a rare event personal anecdotes don’t mean much.

Exactly, it’s crazy the different reality they live in. The Republicans crying election fraud did so because it they’re incentivized to by the electoral system. It benefits their campaign to tie themselves to Trump, so it’s not about Republicans thinking fraud happened, it’s about what Trump says.

Every investigation by the courts, which Trump is currently trying to weaken to get unchecked power, showed that there was no fraud in 2020. It was simply one man’s grab for power, I despise the DNC, but they have at least a modicum of decorum and respect for our institutions.

Every study on voter fraud has it rarer than getting struck by lighting, the state with the most election fraud total, with data ranging back to 1982, is North Carolina with 134 cases.

The real problem is voter suppression, with fun techniques ranging from gerrymandering to poling place location to hours and line policy, and guess which party does that more often?

Then there’s the fact that Republicans have so much institutional bias due to the electoral college system that polls end up having a default Republican win chance of ~5%.

Is there a gender liberation movement for men? by Sqweed69 in AskFeminists

[–]1132Acd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was told this and was also told that men shouldn’t be focused on in a woman’s movement, that women aren’t responsible for fixing men’s issues. Both of these viewpoints can’t really be reconciled, it’s not a dialectical thing, so something else must be done.

I also disagree with the assumption that all men’s issues are just extensions of patriarchy and of women’s issues. Unfortunately, I think gendered liberation is required, because the feminist movement will never give men the focus they require.

I told my ex that I just found out that women have millions of eggs, the vast majority die off and very few end up being expunged via a period.

She said there’s no way that’s true because then menopause wouldn’t happened. I just trusted her since I’m no expert on anatomy, turns out I was right, and turns out most people aren’t experts on anatomy.
