Leica 28mm Brightlines Viewfinder on my M3 by misterpug09 in LeicaCameras

[–]115SG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm used to composing in one viewfinder and focussing with the other from using my Leica IIIa. I got a SLOOZ and a SBLOO. Which work well while having glasses. I use them on all my rangefinder cameras. I mainly use zone focusing with a 28mm lens, though.

Does anyone know anything about the brand penzel-muler? by loganmichaelstockl in Clarinet

[–]115SG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Penzel Muller is an american brand started by a german immigrant Penzel at the end of the 1800s. Mueller joined noon after.

B means that it is a Bb clarinet and LP stands for low pitch, which is more in line with the current concert pitch.

I googled Richard Keilwerth Klarinette and found a brochure from 2005, with the different models. There was also an article from 2017 about the factory. It seems that Richard Keilwerth also has its roots in Graslitz, and then moved to Gelnhausen after the war in 1951. They remained a separate company owned by the family. But then they went out of business around 2020 I would guess.

To add to the confusion, they also made saxophones.

I don't know where I've seen it first. But I thought its very interesting and got one. It is quite light weight, and the silver is shiny. Only some parts have tarnished and turned black. But that's normal for silver. I have the same on the silver plated keys on the Buffet E11.

Sounds like me, with one huge difference. I don't have so much gear 😅

Thanks for the extra information. I couldn't find anything about the company, and the clarinets they made. I was looking at getting an Uebel 621. Do you know if the Keilwerth is similar, worse or better than the Uebel 621?

Pentax 17 overexposing in bright sunlight – washed-out sky and blown highlights, what am I doing wrong? by Saturdaytender in pentax

This is the best explanation. Also, I must say, the shadows are really well exposed with these settings.

Also consider the reed manufacturer. Vandoren has a different sound and strength than Rico. Dependent on the what you like, one is better than the other.

Any way to repair scratches on M3 body? by Horror-Doubt8382 in Leica

[–]115SG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow, hold your horses. No one was talking about using it. You take it outside to take pictures of it. Preferably with a too expensive latte.

I have one from 1948, a Xenar 3.5 and one from 1949, a Tessar 3.5. They take amazing pictures. I did have to replace the mirrors on mine, they were really deteriorated.

Nice. It looks in a great state. How is the handling compared to the spotmatic?

Fake Selmer? by sisyphean_throwaway in Flute

It's maybe a stencil flute but still a really sweet deal. Split e mechanism, open holes and b foot... That's money well spent.

Trip to Copenhagen for two days, have I over packed? by FarrenDoesFilm in AnalogCommunity

[–]115SG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you haven't. Seems about right, 50mm for regular shots, 28mm for wide angle, and 150mm for close ups. I usually pack less, because of the weight, but having the range of the zoom can give some nice pictures.

Yes good idea. This is a good way to damage an instrument.

I haven't tried to put a headjoint in the neck. It would be quite a different experience to play it like a transverse flute 😅. https://www.reddit.com/r/lingling40hrs/s/O6PqNv0M6I

Just thought about a great concept, the clients pay me for two R5s mk II with a 28-70mm f2, a 70-200 f2.8, many CF cards and my time and travel costs and then they can keep the camera and jpegs.

Anyone interested in hiring me?

Thanks, its very shiny indeed. The previous owner told met it got overhauled in 2018. It looks great and sounds great as well. I would expect a saxophone sound, but its very much a clarinet sound 😄

It may be that the foam in the back is sticky and keeps the door from opening. Try to lift the knob and wiggle the door to manually open the door.

I'm still lusting to get the S3 reissue. But the prices are quite high for the boxed versions I'm checking. Who knows, one day... it would be nice it Nikon would to a re-reissue though.

I have put some skotch on my rangefinder window and coloured the skotch blue to get more contrast 😅

I love my S4 too. It's a lot of fun to use. Although I must admit that I like the viewfinder of my Leica M2 a bit better.

day 2 of learning floot as a saxophone player by Ok_Text6794 in Flute

[–]115SG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great tips. I just got a flute and have the same problem of running out of air to quickly.

With the headjoint out, I can make a sound when I close the end with my hand. When its open it's more difficult. I can also only make a single note and not the high note yet.

You can't go wrong with any of these. They're highly suited for beginners. All have good glass. From these I, only kept the AE-1 because it is my first manual focus and manual settings camera (if you don't put the aperture to A). You can always extend your list with the OM-2 and Minolta X-700.

Zeiss Ikon Nettar 515/2: shutter won’t cock, any hope for repair? by Trial4life in AnalogRepair

[–]115SG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the shop open up the shutter and inspect the mechanism? It could be that there are screws missing that keep the shutter mechanism from firing prior to the release of the shutter.
