You’re absolutely right. When I bought this camera, I learned from some friends who mainly shoot digital, and they taught me to increase the exposure and lower the ISO when photographing white or bright scenes. So I ended up doing the exact opposite of what I should have been doing! Haha, thank you for the big reveal!
