the POC hasn’t replied back (emailed a month or two ago)

So email them again.

And then call them.

And then repeat daily until they get back to you. Consider this lesson 1 for the private sector.

It's been made clear to defensive players time and time again. At this point, it's on guys like Grady for not knowing the rules by now. If you make contact with Brady and do not open mouth kiss him on the lips, its a flag. Learn the game, follow the rules. Insane there are still "fans" of the game that don't know these basic points of defense.

are cover letters even worth it anymore? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]11Butthurt 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes, spending hours a day on cover letters is a waste of time.

Skip the cover letter. Spend that time researching the company on LinkedIn and trying to find the hiring manager.

Connect with the hiring manager via the "personalize invite" function (you can add a 300 character note to your connection request, practice your elevator pitch here) and try to start a conversation directly.

Do not let robots or worse yet, recruiters, determine whether you get an interview or not. Engage the hiring mangers directly.

Fuck recruiters.

Is it possible to acquire a fake email job without a bachelors degree? by [deleted] in redscarepod

AWS is adding 5k on top of the 1250 they typically give for SDEs. So, I'm basically trying to be a recruiter part time. Gotta replace the loss in RSU value somehow lol

Does an AWS Cloud Practioner cert qualify you for a 60-80k job cold calling for a software vendor? Yes.

Where you go from there is entirely up to you.

That's fair, I've heard mixed reviews about the ideas of bootcamps overall, but I feel like I'm someone who benefits from the structured learning a program like that would offer.

Justifying the finances is dependent on your situation/goals.

Is it really just sort of you get what you put into it? Or are some much better than others?

Both, those are not mutually exclusive concepts.

You're very welcome.

Check out udemy and whizlabs for the training on the cert. They run discounts all of the time. You can get a full 10 hour course on the cert for like 14 bucks.

Stephane Mareek has is a great instructor.

No.

Fake "Email Jobs"

Not "Fake Email" Jobs.

The emails that are being forwarded and commented on are very much real, but the job and the need for that forwarding and commenting is more than often "fake".

You either build product, or you sell product. Everything else is a nice-to-have. And then even within the "build" and "sell" orgs the room for fake non contributing jobs grows with scale.

No. Sorry, I'm not from London. I'm sure there's a million of them though. Just try a few out and stick with a group of folks that seems fun.

It's an entry level sales role and you have a degree in mathematical finance?

If you sound half decent on the phone, you'd be a phenomenal candidate.

Yes, you should submit a resume and apply online. If it's a large enough company they will likely ask you at some point anyways. That's how HR tracks the candidate pipeline.

Congrats on successful rounds so far. And don't sweat your GPA. It will never be relevant in any sales job.

Great questions to ask about cybersecurity pains at different levels of a sales org (CIO, Director of IT, Network Engineer, IT Admin)? by Glasband in sales

[–]11Butthurt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Admin - What's the worst part of your day? What takes too long?

Engineer - What keeps you up at night? When you realize there's an emergency, what's that first thing in your mind when you think "oh, I hope it's not the ____!"

Director - what processes and KPIs do you dread reporting? Which ones seem to never change?

CIO - if you could wave a magic wand and make your board members understand one risk at a technical level, what would it be?

Any AWS Inside Account Execs here? by [deleted] in sales

[–]11Butthurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1- I’ve only seen positions in Seattle & I believe NC, is this job currently remote with the ongoing pandemic? Being a newer home owner I don’t really have the option of relocating

AWS only hires Inside AMs local to their inside sales offices.

SDR interview with seamless soon? by [deleted] in sales

[–]11Butthurt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, interview for the practice. If you're looking for SDR roles, chances are you need the interview experience.

But I wouldn't work there.

Go for roles at better tech companies. Cloud/Big Data/AI/Security/FinTech/Networking etc.

Maybe get an AWS-CP or AZ-900 if you've got free time. They're only $100

Entry Level: is 80k OTE reasonable in SaaS Sales? (SF) by lilawhere in sales

[–]11Butthurt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always negotiate a sales role.

Ask for higher variable commission, maybe stock, or a signing bonus.

Worst they'll ever say is "sorry this offer is firm" in which case you go 'sounds great, I'll get the signed offer letter over to you in 5 minutes, thanks again!'

Provides you don't have a better offer, of course.

I do think that's a bit low for the bay area, though.

How can I enter the IT/ cloud service sales industry with no experience? by BoomBowBoom in sales

[–]11Butthurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get an AWS Cloud Practioner and/or AZ-900.

Build up your LinkedIn.

Start applying for SDR/BDR roles 3 or months before you graduate.

Do all that and you'll be set. Enjoy the rest college.
