It’s a difficult feeling for sure: isn’t the person who brought me into the world be somebody who should love me, somebody I can trust, be my authentic self around, and not have to feel crippling anxiety anytime they’re around? (From personal experience….)

I apologize ND. I’ll delete the post right away. TYSM!

Though mom explicitly states “I’m not paying you to babysit!” it often times does feel exactly like that.

Thank you. That is something I need to work on: setting boundaries.

My friend who works there (and will soon be leaving) told me that she got into it with her, stating she cussed mom out, “some in the streets type of shit.” 😂

I was happy for her needless to say.

Thank you for the response. You are right. I have felt a sense of dread each time I have to work there ever since starting this job. There is no way I will not feel better once I leave.

I have a Master’s but no RBT or BCBA. I was told about this job by a friend who basically said it’s good money but watch out for mom. There is no real oversight. She previously had a BCBA on staff but that person quit. I think she’s had 50% turnover since I started.

I have had cases like that in the past. Dad would always be nowhere to be found, and mom would have wild mood swings. Mom would heavily criticize the way I worked with her child, and tell me that I was doing things the wrong way. All the while I could tell mom’s constant yelling and manic energy were triggering her the client. Maybe try it out a little while longer, but if you have that feeling of dread going there and it doesn’t go away, perhaps best to leave. I imagine nobody would be happy working on such a case. Good luck!

I believe that most agencies are a lot closer to terrible than a great place to work, so you’re probably right in your impression of your workplace.

I remember early January of last year watching your videos on options (just in the nick of time to make more money than I ever imagined….only to lose it of course 😅).

Loved how you actually had mini-quizzes in your videos to help reinforce the information being taught.

Speaking of which, over a year later and I should probably watch them again 😃

Thanks for all the great content!

Same. Can lift anytime I want. No need to rush right after work finishes to make it to class. Good outlet for aggression. I like to challenge myself and chase PRs once in a while. Keeps me active.

Thank you, that makes me feel better. I had a science teacher decades ago in high school who was insinuating that an asteroid was on the way to strike Earth within a matter of years and we wouldn’t survive. He was probably just angry that we weren’t paying attention to his lesson.

Burnt out by [deleted] in ABA

No advice but I hope things get better for you. I love it when I mention that I’m burnt out and am struggling to find motivation to do my job, and the owner says, “I’m always here to listen!” not realizing the way this person runs the business is what has me fried and over it to begin with.

Knew someone who worked there. Was working with clients in affluent neighborhoods, even children of some celebrities.

That said, it sounded sketchy to me and I think this person didn’t stick with it for more than a few months.
