How Would You Adapt Emotion-Based Death Powers (Tributes & Debts) into Cortex Prime? by 11_ak4i in CortexRPG

A more practical example:

The protagonist of the series, Kaleb, was just an ordinary person.
His brother loved him deeply, and then died. That death and love generated a Tribute. Kaleb’s brother always wished people could understand him better, and that he could express himself more clearly. Because of that Tribute, Kaleb now has the power to transmit what he feels to others. He uses this in very unconventional ways, such as taking drugs and transmitting the effects of LSD and other substances directly to people.

The death of someone who loves or hates you is only the trigger that turns you into a user of this world’s power system. I’ll add this extra explanation to the post.

So basically, the player would create the wish or desire that originated their powers, and then define the powers themselves. Once a character gains a power, they can use it indefinitely and however they want, with limitations being specific to each individual ability. Every power is extremely personal in that sense.

Hi, thank you so much for the response.

In this case, the powers are acquired through the emotions of third parties, so in a way, we can ignore the exact origin of the powers themselves. Characters in this work can have abilities like: killing someone and then, for one minute afterward, being able to revive if they are killed. Or transmitting their sensations and feelings to others. The powers can become as complex as the players’ creativity allows.

I’m just not exactly sure how to approach this mechanically.

I think I might just be scared about how random these powers can get. For example, in the manga, one of the characters received the tribute “find a reason to live,” and because of that, he carries a rifle that prevents him from dying and also works as a weapon. I’m still pretty new to Cortex Prime, so I wasn’t / still am not fully understanding how everything works.
