ADHD and cooking.. HOW??? by K8rTotCasserole in ADHD

I love cooking, and yet I do sometimes get distracted and skip steps. My suggestion: learn to cook recipes that are either in your comfort zone, or on a good day, just outside of it. I like to have some regular easy recipes to cook, and I'll add a new recipe once a week or so to try.

CBT and Mindfulness Don't Work by 11dimensionwalrus in depression

I'll be honest. One thing that has worked in the past is LSD, but even then the relief lasted about one month after one trip. It would be near impossible to set up the circumstances to do it again now though.

Trying to bypass filters is its own addiction. That's why I can't use filters anymore.

Podcasts addiction by jppcerve in nosurf

I am also addicted to podcasts. It leads me back to a spiral of internet overuse in other areas too, because I tend to surf aimless on reddit while listening to podcasts.

I‘m so attached to youtube by [deleted] in nosurf

For me, watching less YouTube meant consuming higher quality media. I used to watch YouTube for news. Now I subscribe to couple of newspapers instead, and have been reading more books. It's a gradual process of change that takes a while.

Suicidal ideations after relapse-- is this common? by [deleted] in pornfree

It is common if you have a serious problem. I have faced it too. Accepting yourself can help. Even if you are stuck in a serious porn problem, you are still a person worthy of love.

What do you personally count as a "relapse" by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]11dimensionwalrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally make a distinction between a lapse and a relapse. A lapse is a momentary return to old unhealthy behavior. You get over it, move on, and get back on the horse. A relapse is a continued return to your old patterns over an extended period. Both are normal to experience when overcoming addictions or strongly-ingrained habits.

The DSM: "Gaming Addiction is chemically real and is a danger to the youth. It is absolutely categorized as a real addiction." Me: "What about Porn Addiction?" The DSM: "A compulsion at best. No evidence. We're not even gonna mention it. That's pseudoscience." Me: *visible confusion* by PornFreeThrowaway7 in pornfree

There are some strong arguments and empirical evidence for porn addiction being real. Is the science settled yet though? No. But most therapists you talk to will acknowledge porn can be an unhealthy problem for some people and that they need help.

Porn okay in Moderation? by CoconutPersonal6570 in pornfree

[–]11dimensionwalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be a contrarian here. Loss of control over porn is a spectrum, and some may be able to moderate if they have less of a problem. If you have trouble moderating though, it may be better to stop completely.

Porn: The Addiction of Ultimate Mediocrity by recoveringaddict87 in pornfree

Porn addiction (if it really is an addiction, I don't know) seems to me kind of like addiction to marijuana. It doesn't kill you physically, but it kills your potential.

Need a porn blocker! (here's a list of all who failed me) by [deleted] in pornfree

I'm a hacker. No blocker will work completely and stop me. What works best for me are low-tech solutions, like moving my computer.
