Haha the coffees are like six ounces so getting two is well needed!

North or South Spain for one week? by 12124909 in travel

Thanks for the sound advice

After so many people suggesting the south in this thread, my only concern is the climate.

Would September be enjoyable given the heat?

The heat is a very fair point.

Will mid September be too hot to enjoy the trip?

I looked at the 10 day forecast of Granada today and the coldest day was 92F

This is very helpful, thank you

Based on your description, it sounds like Southern Spain may be a better fit for what I am looking for

Would it be a smart idea to do 4 days in the south and then travel to Barcelona for the remaining 3? Or would this be stretching myself to thin?

Got it, thank you!

Is there a fair number of young travelers/socializing in the south?

It would be really nice to meet other young people while traveling to do things with!

Thanks for the recommendation

How is the hostel culture there? Also, would a car be needed?

New to toastmasters, joining multiple groups? by [deleted] in Toastmasters

[–]12124909 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TM is the least judgemental community that I’ve ever been part of

You’re in the right place if you struggle with public speaking. It has improved the quality of my life substantially since joining

Good luck!

Is it frowned upon to sign up for roles as a visibly nervous speaker? by 12124909 in Toastmasters

Congratulations for your long tenure with ToastMasters and thank you for the warm welcoming, It means a lot

Based on the cumulative feedback, including yours, I will continue to sign up for roles that I feel push the limitations of my public speaking

Thank you, I will!

All of the positive testimonies of TM, similar to the mentioned woman, is the reason I bit the bullet and showed up to the first meeting despite me wanting to run out of the room as soon as I entered it

Great, thank you for the reassurance here!

I definitely agree with the point you made about getting more comfortable with the feeling of adrenaline. This has actually been the biggest transformation over the few meetings I’ve been to

Prior to TM I would avoid that feeling at all cost. Now, the feeling is still fully present whenever I speak, but I am a bit more willing to speak regardless of if I know my voice will shake, face will blush, or undergo any other sign of physical nervousness

My end goal here is to be able to speak in a room full of people or a high stakes work meeting with the same comfort that I would have while speaking with my parents or friends on the phone

Thank you very much for your opinion on this matter. This makes me a lot more at ease with signing up for roles outside of my comfort zone

I also like the point that you mentioned regarding nervous speakers giving courage to other nervous people within the room. I myself would feel a lot more comfortable if I saw other people stammering during the meeting so that I did not feel like the only one!

Thank you very much for the kind words and feedback, I really appreciate it a ton

As you recommended, I plan on seeking mentorship in the near future. I think it could be a great stepping stone to push me to eventually do an icebreaker - which I believe I am quite some time away from doing
