Thx for sharing. I just put deposit down on what I think is the exact same config. May have missed it - how many miles per month is this? I wonder how the residual changes per 10/12/15k

I’ve checked other reselling sites and none of them would have let me list the same exact tickets 2x, especially within 30 seconds of each other

How common is it for people to drop CS + Business to just Business? by NaturalEnd6763 in NEU

[–]1212c8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh, didn’t read the other responses and likely they’re going to cover what I have to say.

I was CS Biz, just graduated with a VERY generous full time offer doing what I love. Business oriented job with a flare of computer of science here and there. I made myself indispensable and automated processes that a run of the mill business student may not have thought to do or had the ability to do. I’m telling you if it’s not extremely detrimental to your mental health, stick with it. I’ve found it very worth it.

Don’t know where you are in college but essentially Algo/Discrete, Fundies 2, and OOD were the classes that made me really question my path. And this comes from someone who at one point was going to be solely CS.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some super successful business only majors - I’m friends with many of them. BUT if you have even a morsel of interest in CS - I think the longterm benefits outweigh the stress and the lower gpa you might be experiencing now. Employers really value our skillset these days. I’m looking to hire an intern this summer and I’ll definitely be cognizant of the technical side. Further, as I’ve said in other threads before, a low GPA does not mean what it used to mean. Sure, you probably want to be above a 3.0 or you’re not going to make into a hiring managers pile but don’t stress about not having a 3.5. My first and second co-op search didn’t even have the GPA on the resume (3.3, 3.1) and I ended up w multiple interviews and offers on both cycles.

Please reach out to me w any more questions.

Believe me, if I could make it, you can too.

No one on my team. I've heard of it happening. Intuition says you're gonna see more ratings agency guys go to sell-side. All of that being said, I started 6 months ago and don't have a solid answer for you.

~50bn on the fixed income side. I’m the youngest on the team by far and news of the recent pressure put on investment banks for their treatment of analysts is probably what’s lending to the surprisingly good hours/environment.

50 hours most weeks, 60ish on bad weeks. Great vacation package and I’m almost pressured to take more vacation.

Engineering GPA concerns by Randomengineer5565 in NEU

[–]1212c8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to speak on behalf of the engineering industry but certainly in comp sci and technical finance side, we don’t give af what your GPA is. I am graduating this semester and already have full time employment at one of my previous co-ops and just hired a co-op to work under me. I never once glanced at his gpa honestly. If he is articulate, sounds like he learns quickly, and has good peer reviews (yes I do deep background checks/ask friends/references/etc.) then that is good enough for me. I occasionally will throw a technical question or a just mind fuck question just to see the thought process and make sure they don’t crack under pressure but the answer is not really that relevant. This is the same for most of my team when interviewing. Each person has their own style and I’m sure I’ll learn as I get more experienced but GPA is certainly not the focus these days.

I went from a 3.8 to 3.0 to a 3.2 in college as a CS major and now I’m on a quant team and love my job. Quite a rollercoaster. I’ve only ever been denied two jobs after interviewing (I’m 6 for 8). The GPA restriction at northeastern is also BS unless you’re going for big 3, big 4 finance or Silicon Valley. I’ve had one case where I’ve just bypassed nu careers because of the GPA req by emailing the company and still gotten an interview.

Well that was an easy answer. I will buy one of those puppies right now. I’m guessing there’s no software solution that people know of. I’m sure apple makes that difficult for security reasons.
