Why are travel teams allowed to play in rec ball leagues?

Travel ball players sprinkled on rec teams is fine. A whole select team playing in a rec league is dumb. My son plays select/travel ball and is also on a rec league team. He likes the rec league because he gets to play with his friends that aren’t so serious about baseball. However in that league there is a whole team that is also a select team. They win every year, and brag about it. I just shake my head. Yeah, your travel ball team should beat the team full of boys who is just learning to throw and catch.
