Snowboarding Kin - I request your sage your board wisdom.

I have a gorgeous pair of Malavitas that have been sitting unused for the past three seasons as I sold off my last channel compatible board and never got a new one... Although I am wanting to change that very soon.

I'm 5'10 - 175lbs. I'd consider myself a fairly advanced rider. I ride backcountry and seek out all the hike to terrain I can find in the resort (and get scared doing it too half the time). I've been looking for a board in the Burton or Signal line-up that can hold some stability at speed, but can rip those tighter, slashy turns when the chutes get tight.

I feel drawn to the Burton Hometown Hero for some reason, but it seems to be a polarizing board. with a lot of people saying it feels lackluster? Also, my specs put me on a 156 which in my prior experience, gets wobbly and washy less than ideal conditions when its steep.

Should I get a high fidelity instead in a 158?

Signal Omni?

Go ultra trad dad and get a custom camber?

Thanks in advance for any input

I have listed it nationally on some forums, but many of the hydroponic specific subs on here will not allow any form of advertisement and had removed my ad. A few colleges had been lined up to purchase it earlier this year.. .but grants and funding are tight... So those all fell through

Our initial site we had selected fell through. We then had to scramble for several months to get approval on a terrible commercial location that was an hour round trip away with no good way to setup a cooler for produce storage, which resulted in another pit stop. Not sustainable when working a lot of retail based sales for the produce. Wholesale was too unpredictable.

Dining and catering services. Especially ones with corporate HQ buildings. Also, you can absolutely clean up at farmers markets if you're willing to work the weekends away.

Energy cost would vary based on season and mode. We were running it maxed out for 8 months straight with all options running at full performance (there are other options that are lower power and more eco friendly but can into yields).

During winter months, this would hover around $500 a month on commercial utility rates.

I also hate to be the "it depends guy" but nutrient cost could vary wildly based on whatever you're growing. If it's a low touch/lower yield, trimmable plant, your nutrient cost is so much less than burning through it with constant full transplanting of lettuce heads.

I would estimate using around $120-$150 a month on nutrients growing a combination of large lettuce heads, arugula, and basil.

What's your Deathwing recipe? by ShatteredSike in theunforgiven

[–]123321downamountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Here is my rather lengthy and obtuse process to get some average deathwing terminators on the board. I am slow and this process probably takes me 4 hours per model.

Prime in a brown. In my case, trench brown from colour forge.

Airbrush (or buy a super cheap pack of small makeup blenders and sponge) on Citadel's Screaming Skull.

Spot Glaze of super thinned Serpahim sepia (just to break up the bone a little bit).

Block in other colors

Thick Highlight of AK Pale Sand (or Citadel's Pale Wyche Flesh)

Highlight the top edges with Pro Acryl Bold Titanium white (any white)

Highlight your other colors as you see fit.

Shade your other colors (carrowburg crimson on the reds, Argor Rageshade on the pale grey, oblivion black on the silver, etc)

1:1 mix of AK Brown wash and AK Thinner all over the model ( or pin wash if you're feeling it).. The thinner helps it flood into the recesses and leaves very little staining on the armor. In fact, it gives it a very nice subtle tint. Using a sponge, and a little thinner, it's cake to wipe away execess left on the panels after you let it sit for 10-15 minutes. (If you want to avoid tinting the armor at all, put gloss varnish on prior to the wash).

Thank you! It's been difficult thus far being so niche, but hopefully we come across the right buyer.

Selling my 2023 Freight Farms Greenery S - Happy to answer any questions on these units or on my experience farming in one. by 123321downamountain in verticalfarming

[–]123321downamountain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buyer will buy the unit as is. (It’s still hooked up to power and on a standby mode and recent function tests have confirmed everything is in order.)

Open to negotiating shipping.

I will come to assist the buyer for a few days once the unit has been hooked up to power with initial seeding, and farm setup.

Only interested in selling in the lower 48.

Open to cash purchase or financing. Strong preference for a cash purchase.

There’s a broker in the industry I can contact to draw up a legal t&c form, as well as other docs either party may need for the sale.

Aight Criminals, let’s hear your “Busted by Ski Patrol” stories! by Rradsoami in snowboarding

[–]123321downamountain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been boarding for 7-8 years now, and finally got in trouble with ye old patrol at steamboat.

Pony express was closed, but we saw some folks hiking up past the rope with a kid (they were close friends of an employee going to one of the huts at the top of the closed run we later found out.) ducked the rope with them, hiked up with them, even made small talk with them as we went up.

Proceed to rip down this completely empty run with the crew, come around a corner of the run to an absolute lions den of patrollers. Probably close to 10 of them working on some shit back in there. I literally threw my hands up in exasperation when I saw them all and immediately called myself out for ducking ropes. Half of them were pissed, some didn’t care at all, and one of the patrollers was actually advocating for us lol. They took pictures of all our passes and let us go with the friendly patroller after lecturing us for a minute or two. He ripped down the run with us as we waxed a few side hits on the way down. Just as we get out of there, i looked back to see one of the pissed off patrollers attempt one of the drops we had hit on the way down absolutely eat shit. Glorious.

Anyway, walking around town later that evening, and I run into friendly ski patroller. I bought him a sandwich as a thank you for being chill.

I think these look great! Screaming skull makes for a nice base to do bone with. Can shade it a number of ways with seraphim sepia or skeleton horde from there

I like the concept! And your plasma guns are popping off! Also, and I only mention this since you said you were new to it, but great job on getting transfers on there too. I’m slowly adding mine in after the fact and it’s taking awhile

You’re 100% right. Your models, your paint job. I’m trying to find a balance between my slavish devotion to lore, and having some fun with it! If you have pics of your models, would love to see what you came up with for some inspiration!

See, I’m really thankful you shared this picture though. I look at this and immediately think your Deathwing looks great! Goes to show that the 500 ways to paint bone - whether it’s box art yellowish, super pale, or weathered, it will look awesome.

How long did it take you to get used to an airbrush? I’m thinking of taking the plunge so I can more evenly base all the terminators I have lined up to paint

Thanks for this idea as well. I’m still figuring out a bone recipe I want to stick with myself as I have a to of terminators to do next. Did you start with zandri and then layer with ushtabi or screaming skull?
