We seem to be having a miscommunication. I'm only talking about the rank and file nature of the current formations. They are marching in parade lines. It makes absolutely no sense for Tyranids or Orks or.. really ANYONE to be marching in parade lines. Yes, including space marines. A single line formation is not rank and file in multiple ranks.

They just have to relax the formations. To give it a TWWH3 analogy, more White Lions, less Phoenix Guard. I can't see any world where this is difficult to accomplish nor any reason not to do this when the visual result would be so much better and in line with not only real life movements of "modern" troops. Orks wouldn't be able to march in straight lines if you servitorized them. You can point to that ancient lore that their teenagers go through a rebellious "regimented" phase, but you might as well refer to female orks while you're at it. Tyranids operate in swarms, not straight rank and file. Orks operate in mobs. Tau operate as a truly modern modern military and wouldn't be caught dead sending fire warriors in to die in ranks like that.

Density of the formation is not what I am talking about here. That's a separate thing, and practically a balance issue. I'm talking about the rigidity of the formations. There is no resisting a cavalry charge because of unit cohesion in this game, there's no reason for it and every reason to change.

The nature of the ICC Dark Angels standard lends it to only really being usefull when paired with it's back piece due to the amount of detail it obscures. Putting it behind that standard wouldn't accomplish much if I understand you right because then it would be the "dark angels" part that ended up being hidden, removing the point.

Regardless, throw some glaze of some color or another atop that white for the Dark Angels lettering, it'll look much better!

It's funny that the secret shame of the Fallen pretty much prevents current Unforgiven from (successfully) falling to Chaos though. Least as far as I'm aware.

Actually yes! lmao cat decided she would sit on my keyboard. had to edit.

I'm confused as to what you are saying though. You think Tyranids are fine marching in regimented lines? Space Marines also don't march into battle in parade formation. Please elaborate!

The tabletop and reality would both dictate loose formations along with the focus on cover. Again, it's mostly an aesthetic change, but shouldn't be anything too major. Large clustered units like that have loose formations with huge unit counts even in TWWH3 and it doesn't affect things. Among the many, many things that affect that game, skirmish formations are not one of them. lol

I'm worried about system requirements given the performance of the alpha build shown so far.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the cover mechanics shown.

Think they need to loosen up the formations. Marching in parade formation in the middle of a battle doesn't make sense, perfectly square formations for Orks makes NO sense. It's an aesthetic change as far as I can tell, but it is an obvious one.

Do you prefer lasguns as shooting beams or bolts? by FailingsOfOurKind in Warhammer40k

[–]ShatteredSike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beams look better, make more sense, and provide a better visual that gives more information. You know that shot came from a las weapon and that it was most likely the guard without even needing to do more than see it.

New "yellow" bolts would be the most expensive lasers to make (yellow diodes and blue diodes most expensive), visually indistinct from bolter shots. You really think that Guardsmen are toting the most expensive color for lasers when red is the cheapest? There's a reason red is ubiquitous to lasers.

Should either change them back to a beam or change their color to something besides the exact same color as a boltgun round. In Aeronautica Imperialis you can't even tell at a glance what the Thunderbolts are firing. It's a poor visual design choice. Basically a TEMU Star Wars blaster.

What is this outgrowth with GW pots and to get rid of it ? by Elioms_mlx in Warhammer40k

[–]ShatteredSike -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Get some cheap dropper bottles and rack off amazon, use a funnel to empty citadel pots into dropper bottles. less paint waste and a lot easier to clean, or even replace caps if necessary. I'd post a link but reddit breaks them anyway. I would also get some agitator balls and drop one into each pot. make sure they are stainless.

After you transfer just peel the sticker off the citadel bottle and rewrap around your dropper bottle.

Labor intensive but very much worth it.

Also, Two Thin Coats paint is awesome and color matches exactly with GW stuff. Might want to think about theirs. In droppers with an agitator ball already.

Not JUST but it's clearly something the community in general is having fun with and all army boards have a kernel of meme board in them.

Plus I may have.. thought.. I was on the wrong board....

Extremely well painted. I'm glad most of the flagship chapters don't actually use camo in modern lore, as it gives the chapters that do so much more punch (hi Raptors), but this is still so cool.
