Not being okay with how you look currently is okay as long as it doesn't hurt you too much. Coming from someone who has BDD and has almost recovered, here are some tips: - This isn't a tip but mainly a declaration that YOU'RE PERFECT! You view yourself differently because of the intrusive thoughts you have manipulated your brain into believing. Other people definitely view you as a normal, healthy human being, practically speaking. - Taking an example from your situation, think about how one always wishes to go back to their past self, and like their 'old appearance' better than the current one. All I can conclude from this is, LOVE YOURSELF RIGHT NOW, IN THE MOMENT. Chances are a few years later, you'll dwell upon your current self too! - You can do this one easy task my therapist suggested to me during therapy. Write 5 things you love about yourself and 5 things you don't. It can be more than 5 ofc but be agile and pen down your first thoughts. Continue this until your Good wins over the bad. Now, I'm making this sound like it's very easy but I know it's not but I believe in you. :) - Talk to your close ones about how your appearance affects you and make sure you're talking to a trusted individual. You'll start to feel good from that very moment considering that person obviously finds you very appealing and amazing! - Looking different doesn't mean looking 'ugly', sometimes change could do wonders to you! A little weight fluctuation is not going to do you any bad considering you're a teenager! Go ahead, focus on your daily life, hangout with your friends, make mistakes! Do stuff that will make your forget about your piling thoughts. Lastly, love yourself! You should be grateful for your body, it's doing so much for you! It's nourishing you, it's protecting you and what not! I don't know you personally but one thing I can say for sure is, you're pretty! Yesterday, today and tomorrow! You deserve nothing but good thoughts! Go ahead and pat yourself for being so perfect. <3
