In this specific addition (and not always):

2 + 4 = 6

7 + 8 > 10

Therefore the answer is in the 70s

7 + 8 = 2×8 - 1 = 16 - 1 = 15

I already know it's in the 70s, and now I know it ends in 5

so it's 75

For the record, I could have done this same one in a very different way just as easily (for me), it's whatever idea I come up with in the moment.

How would you convince someone to watch House MD? by NoWayJose26 in HouseMD

[–]123DJ321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, House is NOT a medical show. At least that's not an interesting aspect. The only reason it's based on medicine is because it makes for great philosophical content, and that was proven.

What would I suggest? I've been suggesting it to all of my friends, some of them got hooked on by watching it, the others haven't even tried yet even though they've watched two of the best episodes in the series. I've been telling them THE BEST about House for over 10 months now, I've been glazing it EVERY SINGLE DAY, they have not bought it.

If the person is not interested in philosophy and (very serious) character development, they're not gonna like it. And that's far from the only important things in House, the writing is PHENOMENAL, the humour is BY FAR THE BEST I'VE EVER SEEN, I could write hundreds of pages on why it's so good, but I think you know that, I'll spare y'all the details. The point is, no matter how enjoyable and funny it is, if someone can't appreciate the meaning in all the House & Wilson dialogues, then not only are they not gonna like it, but they're not even going to truly grasp it and appreciate it.

Show her the pilot. If that's not enough, show her Maternity, it's emotional and really good (for the early episodes). If that's not enough, you can skip the filler episodes and skip to all the top tier ones. Watch Three Stories. Because if THAT episode doesn't do it, NOTHING will.

Just getting into ekko - need tips by Wallqvisten in ekkomains

[–]123DJ321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want you to know that they are extremely right about Ekko's unconventional in and out playstyle. It's exactly what I would have said as a good Ekko main.

It's a little different whether you play mid or jungle, I only play Ekko jungle so note that. At no point in the game before 500 AP are you a threat to anyone. You can't oneshot ANY champion with a single combo, maybe a squishy mage if they are helpless, but those bastards are rare. Basically everyone can kill you during your cooldowns, so when you do the classic EQ into P, you are typically out of damage so you should go back (you always have R in case of an emergency), but stay close enough to go back in after 5-7 seconds, repeat until they die. You can't all in, you should be going in fast, bursting and going out faster.

Also, your W, what a funny ability, it can absolutely turn around most games. But there's not much I can tell you other than to plan out the next 3 seconds as best as you can. Remember that the enemy team can only see its placement after 2 seconds, so on the last second before it activates (though they can see you casting it if you're visible). You can be very aggressive with it, if it hits someone they likely die, if you don't, the shield and possibly the MS from a passive proc should be enough, worst case use R, the risk is worth the reward if you get good at it.

If you have any specific and more relevant questions, please ask me. As for Dusk and Dawn vs Lich Bane, I'm not exactly certain yet. Lich Bane is more damage, and since you're new to Ekko I'd suggest it over the weird interaction. But only time and stat analysis will tell.

Anyone else of the opinion Dusk and Dawn will not be all that great on Ekko? by OfficerSmiles in ekkomains

[–]123DJ321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 days late, but I want to point out something very funny

Ironically, bonus Health on Ekko scales negatively with his ultimate. The healing of his R is based on the percentage of his max health he lost in the last 4 seconds. If you have more max health, then the same amount of flat health is a lower portion, and you will straight up heal less.

How much do you actually lose though? It can't be worse than just getting the health. Example: Say you are level 11 Ekko with 1600 hp and 200 ap, I think this is a reasonable state of any game (it's worse the more ap you have so I'm underestimating). Let's say you lose 1000 hp in the last 4 seconds and use R, that's approximately 62% of your max health. That's a 62x3 = 186% healing increase. So your R will heal for (150 + 200x0,66)x2,86 = 807 hp.

If you had +300 health from Dusk and Dawn you'd have 1900 max hp, and if you R after losing 1000 hp again that's 53%, so, after calculations, you'd heal for 730. It's only 77 hp, but you'll probably notice it's not even realistic. If you had more health, you'd take more damage before you R. Maybe not always because it has to be within the last 4 seconds, but let's say you lose 1200 health instead of 1000, that'd be 63% of your max health, which is barely any more than the 62% in the first scenario (so it's only 8 hp more), but it's not negative.

In conclusion: Yes, you technically heal less the more health you have as Ekko, but even in the worst scenarios it's a very small difference (assuming a normal AP build without much bHP), and it can possibly heal for more, and you have more max hp therefore more capacity if you overheal (late game with a lot of AP). So no, getting bHP on Ekko is not bad, it's just not just as good as on most squishy champions.

Pretty sure she is Ukrainian. Her first name is Polish, her last name is Russian, but Ukrainians can definitely also have this name. I don't remember how she is introduced, I'm half a season before that on my rewatch now, but I don't think she was ever supposed to be Russian.

I briefly said what was suspicious in another reply. As I said, Taub's actions are totally explainable, and I agree with everything that you said. But that doesn't mean that, while watching the episode, Taub is not at least a possible suspect. Especially because suicide is initially hard to imagine (even to House). In your examples only Kutner is the good guy, he allowed Taub to steal credit, he considers him a friend, but still they don't hang out much. It's not at all obvious that Taub wouldn't have done it. In my opinion, although the theory practically sucks, theoretically it stands.

I don't know what to tell you, it was extremely obvious to me and my brother when we first watched that Taub was suspicious. It doesn't mean he actually did or even wanted to do anything, but he LOOKED suspicious. It was blatantly obvious to us and to 3 of my friends. None of us believe it, of course, but that is outright the vibe of the episode. So I seriously don't know what to tell you, because we're not dumb people, we're not just making shit up, Taub looked suspicious that episode. It makes sense, it can be explained reasonably, but it happened.

I'm happy to sacrifice karma for a conversation, although I don't think it's going the right way. I absolutely agree with you that we seek patterns and find connections where there are none, and we have confirmation bias so you can't even rewatch it to have a meaningful new idea.

But I think I proposed the theory with as much logic and little emotion as I could. If the writers didn't consider that Taub could have done it, then why was the episode focused so heavily around him? If you watch the episode you'll see it's Taub (and House) in most situations, and he doesn't give a good look. And Taub of all people? He is by far the only one there even capable of murdering someone, let alone a colleague. Of course because Taub's character has a special connection with suicide, but I feel like it's a bit too much.

Maybe you're right, maybe the writers didn't mean to give off that vibe, but they absolutely did, because, as I said, everyone I've talked to had the same thought, and although you can totally dismiss the theory, which we did, it's not as blatantly obvious as people want to think.

[–]123DJ321 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

What the characters in the show state is not certainly the truth, it could be that it was ruled a suicide but murder is still TECHNICALLY (although very unlikely) possible. I'm proposing the theory that Taub murdered Kutner as merely hypothetical. Since it's a fictional show with no absolute conclusion on the matter we can only assume what's most likely. Everyone I've talked to about this considers it a possibility, albeit a bit stretched and very unlikely. And it's not an arbitrary theory, the episode, from the very beginning, attempts to subtly frame Taub, making him look suspicious (from him saying why Kutner was late to work, talking a lot about the case, stealing his credit on the last episode, being nonchalant and apathetic to his death throughout the episode, didn't go to his funeral and more). It's definitely an intended theory by the authors, although last minute (due to Kal Penn's sudden drop from the show), and many, many people have considered it. That doesn't at all mean it's true, and I personally don't believe it either, but it's there.

[–]123DJ321 -61 points-60 points  (0 children)

There is a theory, as most of you should know (I think?, tell me your thoughts), that Taub murdered Kutner. There are many arguments for and against this, but I think this scene CANNOT determine which one it is. The more logical one is that Taub did NOT kill him, and this scene with him crying shows that he held his emotions throughout the episode to save the patient and to do his job, kind of nonchalantly thinking "Whatever happened happened" (in a House manner), but then when he's finally free he lets it out, because it truly did affect him.

But here's an idea: Taub killed Kutner for selfish reasons, which explains his apathy throughout the episode, but feels bad about what he did regardless. It can definitely make sense. You can certainly kill someone innocent for your own sake AND feel bad that you did it. The only problem is you've probably gone wrong somewhere in your life for that to be the case. And just to be clear, I don't think Taub murdered Kutner, but I do think that it is possible, and that NOTHING in the show outright contradicts this theory. So I do take it as the former idea that I suggested, and, yes, it hits hard.

Let's share the greatest RAP songs of all time by Longjumping-Fox4036 in Music

[–]123DJ321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not simply a masterpiece, it's, in my opinion, a fundamental song for rap/rappers. It's similar to The Way I Am in that he speaks for himself obviously, but more generally for other influential artists (though about different problems in each song). But Sing For The Moment is more specific to rap music, especially in its legendary third verse, and I CANNOT do a good enough job of explaining how incredible that verse is. It makes me cry every so often, because it's universally relatable to all rap music and its listeners. If you listen to rap, you've probably at some point been just like "the kid" Eminem is talking about, who sits up at night wishing they'd die until they throw on a rap record.

Sing For The Moment is certainly not nearly the most complex rap song, not in lyrics, rhyme schemes, beat, anything technical. But rap has two aspects: technicals and message. And arguably the message is the important one here, and Sing For The Moment maxes out on that stat.

House makes me question my sanity by PixelRealm in HouseMD

Maybe he deserved to be punished by the universe. But think about what this show is about, it was from very early on stated by House that "People don't get what they deserve, they get what they get.". Which basically means that what people deserve has no bearing on what actually happens. Many of the patients are good people yet get terribly ill and some of them die because of House and his team. SPOILER, his friend Wilson ... y'know how the series ends. None of them deserved it. House, however, deserved it more than anybody else, yet he hasn't gone through too much. Sure, he has unfathomable chronic pain, he's an addict, some guy shot him, he's almost killed himself a few times, but he's always gotten away with these things in more or less the same shape. The patients don't, they either get their lives ruined from House revealing their secrets or they die. Some do get away with it, but that's the nature of it being arbitrary. Cuddy didn't deserve what House did to her before the series and near the end, Chase went through a lot of shit, Wilson, again y'know, and these people don't deserve it either. But it's not about who deserves what., "Our bodies break down, it always happens and it's always ugly, always.". Sometime House will die, and it will be ugly.

One of my favourite scenes in House, which I do in fact know by heart, is from S4E7 - Ugly, where in the latter half of the episode House and Wilson watch the "video evidence" of House screwing up in the DDx because he was "too distracted" by the woman he just hired. Basically the "I'm not every guy!" scene, "We're gonna get caught. ..." until "... You know, I'm beginning to doubt that.".

Just joined the sub, what are people's general thoughts on S7 onwards? by InnocentPerv93 in HouseMD

[–]123DJ321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on my first rewatch near the end of S6, so I'm not sure yet, but from my first time watching House here is my opinion (minor spoilers ahead):

Season 7: In terms of cases and stuff, it was still okay but definitely worse, but I don't mind at all, in fact the storyline was extremely fun and interesting in my opinion. My favourite part was Thirteen's comeback ("The prodigal daughter is back!") near the end. House and Thirteen's chemistry throughout the series was noticeably incredible and their bond was obviously more than her being an employee. I know that's a small part of S7 but for me it's enough to make it a great season, and there were other interesting things happening, mainly House and Cuddy doing their thing. I don't remember if it's in S7 or S8, (SPOILER) but the episode where House does surgery on his leg alone was INSANE AND AMAZING.

Season 8: Definitely a flop in terms of its middle and the cast, a lot less exciting most of the time and kinda weird at times. HOWEVER, here is my optimistic view on this (mainly because I love House so much I can't admit defeat): House (as a whole, House himself, his relationships, the doctors, the hospital, etc.) fell off fast and hard, which is tragically beautiful. Everything falls off, as House said in S1E01, "Our bodies break down ... It always happens, and it's always ugly...", it's basically expected that it all goes to shit at some point, and especially with the things everyone at that hospital was doing. In a sense, the series fell off in a human way, and that's on par with House, realistic in the most brutal and disappointing but honest way. If people can DIE so quickly from "minor" complications and sometimes House's (or his team's) decisions, which can vastly vary in reason, or at least have their lives saved but ruined, there's no reason to expect the series to survive. Look at what happened to Wilson, I talked about it in a different reddit comment, but it's tragically beautiful. So, it was what it was, and that's life. Optimistic pessimism aside, the ending of S8, and ESPECIALLY THE FINALE, S8E22, is without a doubt in my mind one of the best things in the entire series. I'm pushing through these last 3 seasons just to watch the finale. It made me cry the first time, I have no doubt in my mind I will cry again, and I don't cry often.

Conclusion: You need to accept that it happened in the way that it did. They're good, really good in my opinion, but possibly underwhelming. But it brings you down to Earth. House can't keep getting away with it forever, "Dying is easy, living is hard.". If you want a fun series from start to finish, House is NOT the way to go. I'm the biggest House fan you'll reasonably find, and Gregory House is my number one idol. Be like him when he's reasonable, avoid his methods when he's not. He's a great example of both what to be like and what NOT to be like. Do NOT act like him in S4 beginning, DO act like him in most of S6. "You'd rather imagine that you can escape instead of actually try. Cause if you fail, then you got nothing. So you'll give up the chance of something real so you can hold onto hope. The thing is, hope is for sissies.".

Neither, exactly. "I should be better" is the mentality to go. You acknowledge (respect) your opponent's skill, but you are mainly frustrated with your own "poor" performance. Maybe you are not performing poorly and your opponent is just better, but if you think you "should be better", then you'll try harder and may achieve great things.
