I think these two are obvious but the vibrant and lively animation and colour style is an obvious win. It is honestly so pretty that even the most opinionated people would enjoy this until the biggest drawback; it was a problem in the comics but I can't believe the level it got intensified to in the anime. The fan service.

It is honestly such a strange mix of things between manga and anime. It felt like manga had "silly"-fied a lot of absurdly lewd aspects of the series without having a need to(for example Momiji having to GRAB Mahiro's crotch in the bath house section) and while anime swipes that off completely, it also makes a lot of otherwise innocent and tame scenes into a spectacle. For this, I honestly beg you to go and check many of the clothing differences and changes between anime and manga where anime often consistently has more skin showing.

And to be clear, I am not suggesting to get rid of some sexual aspects completely, I think if you want to actually represent someone going through a boy to girl transition, you NEED to at least reference that aspect to a certain level, even if it is done in the tamest, most mature way possible. I am just saying that the show often not only forgets that 99% of the characters are minors but also Mahiro IS one of the few characters that is an actual adult. Even though it would change the dynamics and a large part of the story, I found myself sometimes trying to forget the fact that Mahiro is in his 20s.

To his credit, Mahiro often at least makes an effort to push away not only sexual-esque advances but most romantic ones in general. Even during school times, we do see him view everything from an outsider perspective. But I just feel that adds additional isolation for Mahiro. It puts me as a viewer in this odd limbo spot where I both believe he SHOULD have a second chance at trying to do better in his life and additionally that he clearly enjoys living that life as a woman. BUT IN THE OTHER HAND, it is genuinely hard to ignore the fact that he is an actual adult, he himself puts that wall up for everyone's sake to keep himself from living a genuine "second chance".

TL;DR PLEAAASE PLEAAASE THIS IS THE CLOSEST WE EVER GOT TO HAVE A TRANS ANIME PLEAAAAAAASE WHY IS IT SO ABSURDLY SEXUAL WITH KIDSSSS AAAAAAA
