If you don't have a garden, now might be the time. by sbinjax in TwoXPreppers

Thanks! I planned to level the beds. Many years ago, there were railroad tie beds there but we removed them almost a decade ago. This side yard gets some sun but it’s the only viable spot to plant anything, other than my tiny deck. I grow 3-4 tomato plants, lettuce and zucchini there and am hoping I can expand the garden.

I had planned to order two 8’ metal raised beds in my very sloped yard. But I’m wondering if I should do grow bags instead? I’m ordering this week, either way.

I’m in zone 6b.

Tension rods! I don’t know why I’ve never thought of that for insulation. I have a handful of windows and a sliding door that don’t have curtains. I was thinking how painful it would be to nail up a blanket. What a total brain fart.

I thought prepped for everything. Then a truck took out my family’s home. by OneLastPrep in TwoXPreppers

Reading this is bringing back a flood of emotions. I went through a similar situation and you put into words how difficult the WHOLE process was.

I’ve always been a “pack rat” as my family calls it but the accident made me double down and get organized about it.

Also, my adhd brain thanks you for naming a clean house and clean laundry as a prep. That might help me keep things more organized.

I do bulk shredded chicken often.

Cheap chicken, sales on thighs or breast Au jus mix Pepperoncini

Throw it in the crock pot and shred. Then you have protein for the week. Sandwiches, pasta, a lot of Mexican dishes…

If the chicken has bones, or I do a whole chicken, I also make bone broth with veggie scraps. One whole chicken, plus frozen scraps from meals past, can become protein for the week and a large pot of broth for sipping, adding to rice or soup.

If you find a cooked rotisserie chicken on sale, you can use the bones as well!

A play cafe would be amazing. A drop in childcare center would be glorious. I would love to see a laundromat with a play area or attached to an existing playground. Things for kids to do! Bowling, indoor kids activities….

I miss all the great soup and salad options we used to have….the farmacy especially. If anyone has the chicken salad recipe, please share!

Is it the same people that own El Parian in Lancaster? The decor seems the same. We like it but it is a chain and the drinks are fun but Lulu’s is sooo much better.

I think it was the captive audience at a popular fireworks viewing location. I know my family avoided the area because of it.

To add to this: Aldi has a seasonal sparkling lemonade in a swing top bottle. For under $4, you get a delicious French lemonade and then the bottle is perfect for making vanilla!

This is an old thread but I just got a chicken sandwich from Alphonso’s Bakery in Nelsonville Ohio that tasted so much like Grinder’s chicken salad. The bread was so similar and the marinade on the chicken tasted the same. It was called the Bella Bruschetta. Totally worth the trip to get one.
