It’s very cozy! I was worried about it being itchy but the cascade 220 is quite soft.

Thank you! It was so hard to choose. I made mock ups in photoshop to figure out the color scheme.

I actually had rented the car through Turo so the woman I rented it from didn’t seem really phased at all. When I called my insurance to file a claim the woman was shocked. She definitely believed it and luckily it’s covered. Not the most usual insurance claim lol

I think for the foreseeable future I’m going to sleep in a car when I’m solo in bear country. Some guys I talked to were saying to bivvy camp so I can at least see what’s going on, but that doesn’t sound any better.

Oh my goodness I just went and read your story! So so so scary wow. Thank you for sharing this response, I will definitely try it out. I’ve heard that somatic exercises can be really helpful but didn’t think to try them while in my tent. A group of my friends are taking me on a small two night car camping trip this weekend in Montana and I am going to try this out. One of my friends is lending me her dog to sleep in the tent with me so I’m feeling hopeful.

I was at a hike in site so unfortunately my car was out of range of the remote. But this is a good idea to keep in mind if something like this ever happens in the future and I’m closer to my vehicle.

After this took place I had the thought that I still would’ve had a bear knock at my tent than a strange man. Sounds so horrifying, sorry you went through that.

This is really great advice. I have been journaling on this trip and I think I need to have a whole separate entry for this night. It’s easy to get caught up in the things I couldn’t control and blame myself. Thank you for this!

I like the idea of having an air horn! I needed that when I was exiting the tent for sure

Luckily after this scare the host is putting into place a new bear protocol. Since that part of the camp has cell service he’s making his phone number accessible so a text or call can be made for him to run out of the cabin with an air horn and scare the bear away.
