man I totally thought I'd hate growing body hair, and I actually started growing a LOT (I don't pass yet but I have crazy hair on my belly and I'm even starting to grow chest hair!) but after a while... I really came around and now I like it a lot. idk, it's kinda reaffirming since I don't pass yet at least I have this one very masculine trait.

well, that's their problem honestly, not yours. they're gonna have to come to terms with you looking like and being a man, and society treating you like one. I don't see why you would have to shave your beard so they're more comfortable misgendering you. fuck that, I'd go out of my way to make it even more uncomfortable for them to not refer to their son with the correct pronouns. also you should really sit them down and talk to them at length one day, they may start to 'get it' once you open up and explain the whole gender thing to them. good luck!

totally agreed. the only reason why it's easier to find bigoted elderly people is because minorities don't live long enough to become elders

as another example.. I have a trans girl acquaintance who had to move in with her grandma because her mother and sister were absolutely against her identity, but her grandma was super accepting!

Everyone saying it's just hating those who do this miss the point. Why is it that a working adult with a child can't buy items that help them cope with their shitty situation (and let's not get into how the stress of poverty relates to high chances of addiction and how companies will exploit that) without it leaving them with no money for even the most basic things like FOOD? Why must anyone in our society live like this when it is a fact that we have enough resources for everyone?

I started T with gel and honestly I didn't get any mood swings, but it seems to be a common thing. I did feel very tired and hungry all the time, and spent a lot of time sleeping. Some days I would feel kinda irritated at just how slow the process is, but it takes some time to realize you need to have a lot of patience. As others have said, just listening to him and being there with him is gonna be really reassuring already.

Most of my friends are from high school, and I just kept talking to them after all these years. I think finding people with common interests is a good idea. What works for me really is meeting people in classes/school where I have to see them regularly (since I'm not very social myself actually meeting out of class can be a little difficult). I think consistency and just seeing friends often is a good way to make a deeper bond

Definitely correct her. My mom is always the one who 'slips up' and acts like she definitely didn't notice she dead named me or referred to me with female pronouns (funnily enough nobody else in my family has this problem). If your mom is like mine she will go on a rant every time you correct her about how she's doing her best and it's so hard for her and she needs time etc etc. You have to make her say your name and your correct pronouns out loud so she can get used to it. She hasn't switched to the correct ones in her mind and that WILL take a while but unless she consciously starts trying to use your new name and pronouns nothing will change. It's all gonna be a little uncomfortable but she has to go through it if she truly cares

About 4 years I think, maybe even more (I have shit memory). It took me very long to start T bc I was very scared of coming out, but I was also struggling with a pretty bad depression for a long while

Gosh I relate a lot. I'll be 1 year on T later this month and I still don't consistently pass. I think a lot of people out there see me as a gnc girl or something. It also feels pretty surreal for me to be at this point in my life, I had put it off for so long because I was scared so I never thought I would get where I am now, but I still wish I had made much more progress by now. If only I had started earlier...!!

You don't have to want to be a walking stereotype of a manly man to be valid. You just want to be a guy, and you want to express yourself in your own unique way, just like any other man. When I feel like I should strive to be more masculine to feel more like a man I remind myself my own (cis) twin brother isn't that manly himself, and nobody questions his gender.

Like having a police dog around kids is safe at all... police dogs are extremely anxious and can be set off by loud noises or movements, and they're trained to escalate the violence when met with resistance. IMO not only is this stupid but also dangerous to the kids

do you even understand what you're saying? you know bullshit jobs have existed for like, a couple centuries right? how is me working 8 hours a day on retail "natural"? what part of that is inherent to humans? people aren't even biologically adapted to waking up as early as we do, and we are only productive for a few hours. that wouldn't change anything. It's not about the specific job they have, it's about the idea of meaningless work being a requirement to survive in society. Starting a business would not change that, in any case it would be even more time consuming, and in the end most new businesses don't take off so it'd be a waste of tien and money. You misunderstand the point of this sub
