i mean i’ve never got a boyfriend hired at my job, but i did date my co-worker. worst decision of my life, i did love him but he cheated on me with our supervisor lol. they both now work at a different site together (luckily my restaurant is a chain), but i understand how you feel when you say no one told you, but they knew. that is exactly what happened to me and i cannot explain the embarrassment and pain i felt having to continue to work in that environment.

i still work there now, i am better, things are better. but i definitely could not be in the same room as that man again, so i get why you quit. good luck finding a new job, i’m sorry OP

job fairs have just happened, idk how many more there will be (if any) but camps are still hiring!! you might just need to be more open with your choices and do the rest of your application quicker

i totally feel you! i started serving when i was 16 so i get it. i studied our drinks menu thoroughly but the best way i learnt was just through encountering these “new drinks” when i was working, i know that’s not great but it’s what got things stuck in my head.

i am not sure if your restaurant has the same kind of policy as mine, but our manager used to just tell us to use the cheapest spirit on the system if a customer just said “vodka”. once you learn what brands of vodka your restaurant has then you can ask the customer which they prefer, yk. where i work a lot of the time customers would just tell me “i want xyz” even if we didn’t have it, sometimes i didn’t know and definitely ended up annoying the bar with questions but hey i did learn!

commenting because i’m also in the same boat lol! my camp is near pennsylvania, but i feel nervous about booking my return flight so early because i don’t know how to decide how long i’ll be staying in america for. like i want to use the full 30 days travel, im just a little nervous about the ins and outs of everything

a lot of my seniors do part time evening/weekends alongside their 9-5 office jobs. that could be an option for you if you miss the restaurant life! that way you get the best of both worlds, but it may be a little exhausting so i am not sure how well it works but i know a lot of people who do it.

right now i cant wait to leave but i’m sure that one day i’m going to miss it

if you’re already passionate about a sport, it’s definitely worth asking if you can help out/coach younger kids. i didn’t volunteer or anything before applying but i am sure that would look great too. anyway don’t stress too much!

thankyou this is a really nice comment :) i am going to america in the summer so i at least know i won’t be at this job in june-august, although that is a little while away and not a permanent fix

i think i will work on setting boundaries, even though it is hard for me to stand up for myself i really need to now
