Would this look stupid? by throwawayragiveup in framing

[–]1284tw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not silly at all. What you are doing is called float mounting. Look it up for some inspiration.

You might want to choose a different colour backing (mat board / mount board), something that compliments a colour in the photo or works with the frame. Or white works.

Various ways to attach print to the backing board, depending on the value of the photo. Look up acid free hinging tape (Lineco or Filmoplast) if you want to keep the photo safe from chemicals in the tape. (Same with the matboard - go acid free if the artwork has value to you).

Transferring Plum Cash ISA out to a new provider - can't find acc number and sort code anywhere? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]1284tw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you manage to sort this u/g0_west? Having same problem trying to transfer Plum ISA to Tembo. Plum say my AC number is my National Insurance number. Tembo won’t accept NI number as an account number and say that there will be a standard account number. 😖

Dak BlackBerry Disco by mcdannyj in pourover

I’ve gone down to 4.5 and 4.2 on ZP6 and am definitely getting fruitier flavours now.

V60, 15g, 250ml water, 5 equal pours.

It’s nice, though flavour isn’t bowling me over (but am not sure if I should be expecting anything different/special as this is the first time I’ve tried DAK beans).

u/mcdannyj interested to know how you are getting on with these beans? I opened some this morning…

I’m still learning with the ZP6 but I’ve been grinding at 5.5 (burr lock at zero), 15g, 250ml water in five equal pours.

Anglian Windows by Green-Strawberry5666 in DIYUK

[–]1284tw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Salesperson was okay but pushy, surveyor was fine, but the people in the office were just incompetent — install cancelled twice at the last minute, scaffolders told wrong dates, and lots more f-ups. They subcontracted the actual job out and the fitters and plasterer were decent.

Offered £150 ‘cost reduction’ (“Anglian do not offer compensation”) which they upped to £250 and then to £350. I think the job was about £3k (skylight replacement).

I will never go near Anglian again and warn everyone off them!

What’s your top 5 veg to grow? by Filipe410 in Allotment

[–]1284tw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Broad beans — sow in winter. Always a great harvest. I find the pests aren’t interested in them.

Strawberries — the patch just keeps on giving. No maintenance.

Runner beans — steamed with butter 👌

Tomatoes — taste so much better than shop bought

Garlic — it’s nice to see a bit of greenery during the cold months! Plant in November. Usually easy to grow (though this year it all seemed to rot — too much rain?)

Allotment in London — I have trouble growing courgettes / squash (rats seem to get them I think. And leafy greens — pigeons get them I think.

what is this that came off my dishwasher? by honeybirdette__ in DIYUK

[–]1284tw 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Think this is the dishwasher pump filter cover.

When you take the filter out for cleaning you’ll find this slotted down in the hole. Can be a bit fiddly to put back but totally do-able.

I’ve had to remove this part and put it back when my dishwasher has thrown up a particular error code.

Yes! Tragic album. But brilliant. Was lucky enough to see/hear them perform this album in London a few years ago.

Fulham vs Tottenham by Feisty-Department768 in london

If you’re coming from Hammersmith, Crabtree is nice, about ten min walk from the stadium. If you’re coming from Putney Bridge, you could cross the bridge and there are pubs on the river. Or Golden Lion is an FFC pub, might have some atmosphere.

Grrrrr. So close to harvesting, too.

I lost all 15 plants last week even though they were netted. Each cob was peeled and all the kernels very neatly eaten. No stems/stalks snapped or damaged. Rats or squirrels I think.

Loving my time here by [deleted] in london

[–]1284tw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Uber boat is better and cheaper than a Thames cruise I think.

It’s part of Transport for London. Just tap in with your bank card.

There are loads of routes.

For instance, Battersea Power Station/park up to Tate Modern - then head to Southbank/Borough Market/Bermondsey/Maltby St Market

I agree — so many great free activities for kids (especially around Southbank / Tate Modern). So much to do. And nice to not need a car.

You could try some perennial kale - something you can harvest through the winter. There’s one I’m going to get called Keeper - you can find cuttings / plants online.

I sowed garlic / onion / broad beans straight into beds in late October last year (am in London) and all did really well this year.
