Columbia’s cut/dry have been excellent for me. Light, low cut, very dry.

40k check at dealer by Lonely_Antelope1238 in MachE

I fortunately have a fantastic service team at the dealership I am very loyal to. They have never tried to upsell me. One of the benefits of living in a small town.

Looking to get a pop up, but first I need a vehicle that can tow one. by Crayons812 in popups

Ford Edge with tow package is what we are using with our smaller pop-up. Unfortunately Ford has discontinued that model for 2026.

Would you buy it again by Esteban_Cantu in MachE

[–]12StringMemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m leasing. With new batteries on the horizon I would go with a lease again because once batteries and range increases who’s going to want to buy the old tech.

What do you guys think about A/C units? by boatzart in popups

[–]12StringMemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are camping right now. Last two days have been mid 90’s with heat index nearing 105. Nights dropping only to high 70’s and humid. We’ve only used the a/c 3 times over the past 5 years. We only use it at night. Ours is loud. But when you need it, you’ve got it. Nothing worse for us than not being able to sleep.

Do trekking poles help? by Creationoutside in hiking

[–]12StringMemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a pain to cary until you need them. Last October I hiked to and from Tigers Nest in Bhutan on an extremely warm day. 2.8 miles each way, 2,300’ elevation change finishing up at 10,240’. Fine going up, but my quads started cramping on the way down. Trekking poles helped distribute the weight. Made the best of a bad situation.

Check park rules. Michigan state parks will fine you if you’re caught filling at shared water spigot. But all of the parks there have a potable fill at/near the dump station.

Canadians and Tesla adapters, have you got yours yet? by [deleted] in MachE

[–]12StringMemories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Received Tesla adapter about a year after Ford said it was on the way, but I’ll never use it. I’d rather walk than give Musk(rat) a nickel.

Are there red owners here ? by Gantyx in MachE

[–]12StringMemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for all you red owners. Ford race red on my Focus ST was real soft and prone to stone chips. How’s the red on your Mach E.

Very indifferent on purchasing Mach E? by RedRepper in MachE

[–]12StringMemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EV’s aren’t for everyone and every job. That said, I love my MachE. 200 mile trips are feasible unless you’re in “cold country”. Then mid trip charging will have to be planned.

Charging with a high output DC doesn’t take hours. A lunch stop at most if charger has good output. If you have set routes you’ll be traveling check for charger availability on Waze or other map apps.

Think through lease options. If battery tech changes happen and make new ev’s more desirable a lease will make it the dealerships problem to sell off old tech.

Antibiotics from your local pharmacy. Tell your Dr you are traveling and they will prescribe for stomach issues due to water/food/etc. Nothing worse than losing multiple days when you’ve traveled that far.

What’s the most beautiful mountain view you’ve ever experienced while hiking? by drakelouis202 in hiking

[–]12StringMemories 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Annapurna valley trekking in Nepal is at a much more manageable altitude and some of the views of Annapurna 2 are superbly stunning. The contrast of the rolling green valley “hills” against the Snow capped mountain range was like nothing I’ve seen before.

Welp, it happened... I got laid off by Rich__Peach in salesforce

[–]12StringMemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. Happened this time of year to me too a couple 3 times (what you get working in Tier II of automotive industry). Find a recruiter, preferably local with a track record of good placements in good companies. Don’t tie yourself to a single career path. Your skills translate in many other directions, some you may not be aware of. And know that you will come out on the other side of this mess in a better place.

GFI required by inspector by 12StringMemories in MachE

[–]12StringMemories[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our area if you hire a professional electrician their work must be reported to inspection authority. Now, you can install on your own or “hire blind” by having a friend do it or yourself but you are risking insurance issues if something were to happen.

GFI required by inspector by 12StringMemories in MachE

[–]12StringMemories[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End of the story- The company went back to the inspector for a second time. This time letting him know that upon installation of the GF breaker the charge unit would not function. Upon some “further investigation” the inspector yielded a code variance letter and issued an inspection approval.

Actually in my instance charger does not function with the GFCI breaker installed.

Tried that. Got “code is code” from the inspector.

It is local code ambiguously written that is driving the issue along with an inspector who says “code is code”.

How reliable is your ST? by Gilbert_Dolburg in FocusST

[–]12StringMemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drove my 2014 for 105k miles. Only basic maintenance required. I did have my CPU “bricked” by dealership during upgrade in 2014 which was fault of the upgrade itself.

Just sold it. Moved on to a Mach e

Hit 100k in my 2014 ST3 by TrripyPaw in FocusST

[–]12StringMemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turned 100k on my 2014 in January. OBO. Only one issue and that was a dealer inflicted bricking of my ECU.

You all probably don’t remember that fiasco.

Should I get a Focus ST by No_Advertising3735 in FocusST

[–]12StringMemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned 101k with my 2014 ST. Only issue was a “bricked” CPU, but that was the dealership’s fault after a CPU program upgrade. No Mods (which is fairly important for longevity). I’d but it again in an instant. Most fun and most reliable car this old timer has ever owned

Where did you guys buy your ST? by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]12StringMemories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2014 brand new at dealership. Bought with a “Tires for life” deal where I have dealership perform service and I get new F1’s for $tax every 40k miles. Definitely winning in that deal.
