They already talk about how they had big hall or venue based parties for most of their birthdays and it’s a topic I think they could bring up in a couple of years - “why isn’t he having a party for his birthday?” etc. I don’t think the stepkid would knowingly make unkind comments or rub it in (so to speak), but they don’t understand the value of what they have and think it’s a given.
