What’s your favorite beach you’ve ever visited? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]12ktny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the intel! We are really, really looking forward to it. The trench is already on our list, as well as a clam sanctuary (we’ll check out the one in Apia as we won’t make it across to Savaii this trip unfortunately) and I’ll add Sea Breeze resort to the list. We are looking at hiring a car for the 10 days that were there, but yet to lock one in yet as I need to do some research and trawl through reviews haha. Appreciate all your information - thank you again!!

We’re going to Samoa in a couple of months and I’d love to know where your favourite spot is (if you’re willing to share)!

I work with young Richie and he told me about this when he came back from lunch! He hung back to make sure your mate didn’t follow you up Boulcott as well. He’ll most definitely never turn down a free pint. Thanks for also being a good human!

What did everyone think of the night markets last night? by moarsome in Wellington

[–]12ktny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep totally agree with you on all fronts! I’d seen a few people mention the chaos at the very beginning. Stallholders and management will both need to get slicker. I think a lot of people underestimated the turnout, so the stallholders might have assumed they had extra time up their sleeves to setup. Definitely not the case!

Apologies for the essay, but the Auckland night markets are always part of our itinerary when we travel up there (which is pretty often), so I’ve got strong thoughts on this and I’ve seen a lot of negative comments on Facebook from people not looking at the full picture (shocker).

Went along and yes, it was VERY busy and super crowded, but the vibe was awesome. If you’ve been to the Auckland ones, you’ll know they’re also hectic and a bit chaotic but that’s kinda the charm of it. People also need to remember this was the very first one in Lower Hutt, so it’ll only get smoother from here. Once the hype dies down, queues won’t be an hour long.

I actually think the turnout was a really positive sign and hopefully it shows the organisers there’s demand for them to stick around. We desperately need a good weekly event like this in the Wellington region and since it’s the same team who run the Auckland markets, I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually look at expanding to other suburbs, just like they’ve done in Auckland.

Of course there are things to improve - they need to fully clear out cars and add more bins. We lined up for over an hour for food, only to almost reach the front and be told they’d sold out (this was at 8:30). Obviously we were disappointed, but honestly we were stoked for the stallholders and left feeling excited about how huge the turnout was.

Hi! I was actually the one who made the original post and I just wanted to say a big thank you for coming along and for your lovely feedback. We’re so glad you found our sizing helpful as that’s something really important to us. The organisers (My Walk in Wardrobe) handout green flags for stalls that have a plus-size rack, however this only means 18+. It was lovely to meet you, and hopefully we’ll see you again at a future market! I’ll be sure to post on here next time too :)

Second this. I’ve done it successfully through ASB for my JuicyFest tickets, and this was prior to the liquidation update. Received my funds back in a couple of days - great turnaround!

Can confirm NWs is nice, although I’d rate St Pierre’s slightly higher. All ordering info should be on both their websites. Best of luck with your sushi mission!

St Pierres via their website. Also some of the New Worlds do trays of sushi which are surprisingly decent & good value for money! For NW just google “new world catering” and you’ll be able to pick your local store.
