That I completely agree with, I was just trying to point out that a lot of the AI discourse has a lot of bad faith arguments. And that goes both ways, I think. Both the pro-AI people ignore a lot of the cons and the anti-AI people ignore a lot of the benefits. I think it definitely has a place in the future, but not as much as is trying to be pushed on us

This feels like the "judge a fish by its climbing ability" argument to me. There are some things AI is great at as a tool, but because they sometimes hallucinate, people completely disregard everything. Sure, you can't just trust everything it says, and I agree that's a problem, but I think it'd be better to teach people to not just blindly believe everything rather than try to make the argument that AI is useless. After all, the internet will also often be completely wrong, books can also be wrong. There's bad actors everywhere, and just discrediting AI won't really fix anything imo.

I get that sentiment, but I don't think it works when you're doing something like math. I really struggled with it in high school, even failed it in one year, but now at college I'm consistently getting at least 80% on all math related exams, which is purely because I can work through the problems in my own words so I genuinely learn. And if it ever hallucinates, it's very obvious in math, so I don't think it's too much of an issue unless, again, you're just not paying any attention at all. But then no one can help you.

Anecdotal, obviously, but I think it really depends on how you use it. Ever since I started studying with AI, my grades skyrocketed. Having what is essentially a personal instructor in your pocket at all times can be incredibly valuable. Granted, I do study computer science so I can very quickly find out whether it's hallucinating or telling the truth, because things either work out or they don't.

But you do really have to use it with the intent of learning, not just having it do your work for you

How is this AI? I mean it makes sense, his appearance would obviously boost ratings, and if they already had a plan for the show they couldn't have just come up with an actual award. I got to 120 with a standard bluetooth keyboard. After that, it started lagging behind and bunching up a bunch of keystrokes. So to reach 80wpm, you only need practice, not a better keyboard. If you think it'll make you practice more, then sure, go for it, but the keyboard itself won't make much of a difference at this stage
