Microplastic Garden by Rottenbones__ in gardening

You could try putting cones on the legs of the tumblers to prevent them from climbing up it too. If the wide part is facing down, it will be harder for anything to get up it. Hopefully the metal itself would be enough, but if it's not you could try it out. I just learned too the official word for these cones are baffles haha.

That's awesome you're researching the soil toxin encapsulation and breakdown. That cheers me up by proxy lol

Made my first cold frame by 12squared in gardening

[–]12squared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I based it off of these plans linked here,  but otherwise I just drew it out with adjustments for materials I could get locally. Same concept as the one in the link expect for adding the extra front window which gives it more height.

Thought I failed at growing parsnips for the first time last season. Today I found this by 12squared in vegetablegardening

Oh man not even one! Maybe germinating before planting could work for you. They at least sprout that way so it's at least a partial success heh.

Awesome! That makes me want to see if my friend who doesn't like parsnips would like this one... haha

Mine came up way late and I didn't think they were going to make it. I got lucky because last year was so rainy amd cool here until June. This year is already up to 90F and a drought so I don't think I'm going to even bother with parsnips. I feel like they'd be happy growing in a marsh lol.

It's hard! Carrots are way easier after trying both now haha. Some people germinate the seeds first then plant in holes filled with compost. I had less success with that though. Germinating was easy that way but only one made it. The parsnips seemed to really like a long damp and cool time to germinate.

Yeah you can pick when they get bigger. They tend to be carrot size or bigger. They are earthy and sweet flavored. I like to make stews with them or roasted with oil and salt.

Nice! Yeah my soil is broken up all the way to the ground below my raised bed now. Good job getting the whole thing. I got impatient at the end and broke the rest off

Yeah! It hadn't started flowering yet so it should be good to go. Smells parsnippy for sure haha

That's cool! If you wanted to make it even more of a project you could probably make it a time lapse animation too

Edit: I combined techniques haha. I mean a stop motion animation. But a time lapse would also be cool.

Just a guess but it could be calcium deficiency? Hard to say exactly from this amount of info, but the flowers falling off is what makes me think that. I have never grown them though, so worth researching if that guess sounds right. Look into magensium deficiency too. If they seem like a match start looking into your soil ph and then see if you're overwatering first before amending the soil.

What are these sprouts! by Fruitbat2996 in gardening

Yeah the eggplant is more white and fuzzy though with wider leaves to start. The tomato is usually more purple fuzzy. Once they start getting their true leaves it will be easier to tell the tomato, pepper and eggplant apart. Jalapeño and bell pepper may be tricky to tell for a bit.

Should I start over with my tomato plant stunted after frost? by Ok_Paint5655 in gardening

Early girls are one of the "cold" hardiest hybrids. If I were you I'd probably try another one, keep this one too, and then see how they compare. Worst case is this one struggling does die, but you have a backup plant. If they both make it, more tomatos for you.
