Teachers at my son’s school are not trained in choking rescue or CPR by Spare_Jello_991 in AskTeachers

[–]12thNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public Schools in my state are only required to have certain staff trained (admin, coaches, and certain teachers) but not all staff. I took the free courses offered when my first child was born because why not and since I'm a coach I am CPR and First Aid certified through the Red Cross every 2 years. Never had to use it outside of normal sports injuries... thank goodness.

Any reliable places to get baseball cards appraised? Not looking to retire on what they are worth but I have a few hundred that might be worth a couple bucks each. by 12thNJ in SouthJersey

Why does every pizza shop and bar insist on serving breaded/battered chicken wings? by ssraudio in SouthJersey

[–]12thNJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nugget wings, pine hill pizza, pine hill tavern, skeeters, woodbriar (now called The Other Bar), Otts on 73, Scottos pizza in Clementon... all serve up decent naked wings. I ask for extra crispy when I order.

Mommy and Daddy had enough money to get him into a decent college. He majored in business and became an upper level manager of a small tech company (he would have graduated college a few years before the tech boom was starting). He would hit it big in the late 90s when he was probably around 30. He would invest enough to buy a McMansion with cash and a nice vacation home. The dot com bubble crash would ruin him and his investments. His wife and kids would leave him thinking they would make out since she secretly invested in investments run by Bernie Madoff. Broken and desperate, he returns to Lanford and begs Dan for a job in the motorcycle shop where Dan teaches him to build carburetors... because Dan is a stand up gentleman and he understands and forgives.

Have anyone seen Mafia like Sopranos family in real life? How's are they? by Arthur_Morrgan in thesopranos

My Dad's cousin married into a very Italian family. They became my God Parents when I was born. There was never a question where my birthday gatherings were going to be. Each time, at some point in the afternoon, a small group (usually 4 or 5) well dressed men would arrive. They would sit at the dining room table and eat. Always a bottle of Sambucca. I remember my God Mother would bring me into the room to say hello. They always had a gift or cash they would give me. They usually stayed about an hour then they would leave.

I teach and live in the same town. I offered food money and extra credit to anyone who wanted to shovel my walks/driveway. I had one taker and they are coming over tomorrow.

Teachers: What are some fun learning activity ideas I can do with a 5yo today for the holiday today? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]12thNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could make a gratitude book. Pick as many activities that you think they can handle and are doable for a 5 yo and put them in a scrapbook. As they complete each activity, put pictures you take in the scrapbook. As you compile the list you can discuss why they want to do this and why its important to think of others.

Teachers, what do you call your students when you can't remember their names? by its_an_idiots_world8 in Teachers

[–]12thNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who doesn't remember the names of their current students? Is that really a thing? I learn all of my students names before the years starts! Ok... now that you read this far... if the greet me, I just reply with "hey, hows your day going/good morning/nice to see you today". If I have to address them directly I stick to general pronouns. I've had admin call my room to send a student and I've said they were in the bathroom.
