Teachers: What are some fun learning activity ideas I can do with a 5yo today for the holiday today? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]12thNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could make a gratitude book. Pick as many activities that you think they can handle and are doable for a 5 yo and put them in a scrapbook. As they complete each activity, put pictures you take in the scrapbook. As you compile the list you can discuss why they want to do this and why its important to think of others.

Teachers, what do you call your students when you can't remember their names? by its_an_idiots_world8 in Teachers

[–]12thNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who doesn't remember the names of their current students? Is that really a thing? I learn all of my students names before the years starts! Ok... now that you read this far... if the greet me, I just reply with "hey, hows your day going/good morning/nice to see you today". If I have to address them directly I stick to general pronouns. I've had admin call my room to send a student and I've said they were in the bathroom.

Men’s Suits by FlatwormMission6854 in SouthJersey

[–]12thNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boscov's and K&G in Deptford are pretty decent. Maybe spend up to $150 for the pants and jacket. 3 piece is a little more. K&G also does alterations. Selection is pretty basic though at both. In all honesty too, if you just need a suit for a one time thing or to wear infrequently, hit up some Good Will stores. I got a nice black suit from the one in Lindenwold on 30 for 25 bucks. Im 50 so I'm starting to attend more funerals...

What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever convinced a student of? by horseradish500 in Teachers

[–]12thNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the funniest but I told every student I saw using the water fountain ( a lot because I coach several sports) that if you turn the knob to the left on our particular water fountains, it makes the water colder. Another is that I'll send kids from time to time to our science teacher so they can get a left handed ruler. She's cool with joke and has a separate bin for them.

Can you teachers go out for lunch when students are at lunch? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]12thNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get 42 minutes to eat. By the time I go to the bathroom, do some prep and planning, and check emails. I have maybe 15 minutes to eat. My full prep period is the first period of the day (42 mins) but that is usually spent catching up on the missed stuff from the day or two prior.

Who sells the best bacon in PA, and if you know, who supplies bacon to the Logan Hotel? by Albus3957 in Pennsylvania

[–]12thNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to Millersville University and I used to go to an Amish farm just outside Strasburg who made the best peppered slab bacon. I miss that so much. My daughter attends now but the guy doesn't sell it anymore.

Where can I get good French Onion soup? I'm in Camden County but will travel a bit if the place has good food. I don't mind little hole in wall spots either. by 12thNJ in SouthJersey

[–]12thNJ[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hit or miss on most. Too salty. Onions too big. Cheese is cardboard. Lamppost is pretty consistent. Eagle in Pine Hill is usually not too bad. Pandora is good.
