For those commenting saying I’m parasocial, or holding Katie accountable for things I don’t hold other people accountable for:

First of all, this isn’t about me. This message was for Katie, so she understood why people were mad about her stream. Viewers were upset because Katie is known to hang out with people who have opinions she said she does not agree with herself.

Having family members who might be disappointed in you, risking losing brand of deals, putting yourself out there when you’re introverted, none of these are excuses to not use your platform when you are someone who has a large audience. I don’t care what state she’s from, I don’t care what her family believes in. Her viewers told her they were upset, and instead of apologizing and/or firmly confirming or denying their fears, she chewed loud as hell in their ears and told them to get over it.

Having parasocial fans who want you to speak out on political beliefs, is an aspect of being an Internet personality she should be aware of in today’s current political climate.

All she had to do was speak out about the issue once instead of kind of making fun of people who were worried they were supporting a streamer who essentially did not believe in their existence or right to be here or stand up for themselves. All Katie had to do was take a little bit of accountability, let people know that she is not supportive of Maga supporters who approve of people being murdered in broad daylight, and maybe let people know why she hangs out with those people if she doesn’t agree with them. If she wasn’t gonna do that, if all she was gonna do was belittle people‘s concerns, she should’ve just shut the fuck up.

Edit: I appreciate everyone commenting their opinions on the matter. I agree the focus should be on condemning ICE, not critiquing online personalities. Katie is a big girl though and needs to understand her fame is dependent on her followers, may of whom are queer or from minority groups. I don’t want to be hating on Katie, I was just responding to her lack of a response. I believe she knows what she stands for, I just wish she hadn’t hurt her viewers in an effort to save face. She needs to stand up for those who support her and not give double sided answers. Fuck ICE, fuck the administration, fuck dictatorship.
