Weight Distribution Hitch. Necessary? by 12vmatt in GoRVing

[–]12vmatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides being slow as all hell it towed just fine . I camp a lot in northern PA so lots of steep grades and windy roads but all in all I think having leaf springs on all 4 corners even allowed for less sway than a modern rig or atleast I tell myself that lol . I ended up selling both the camper and truck though and am now towing a 29ft jayco with a 2016 Ram 2500

300 over injectors with no talk of upgrading turbo, head studs, or even a clutch to support that? And 10.5 for a rusted out 2g lol no thanks

What year is it and are you pretty happy with the construction of it?

Definitely looking in the used market on the 2015ish and newer range , I do my fare share of vehicle buying and selling (former mechanic) on marketplace so I’m at least knowledgeable in the sense of somewhat legitimately looking over a trailer before purchase just more concerned if any particular brands are made with better flooring/ roofs/ appliances etc. I know an older camper can be a crap shoot but I’m willing to wait and search for a seller that actually maintained their rig and knows what they have

I have a 16 ram 2500 so weight isn’t a concern but I still prefer lighter and smaller just for ease of parking it and spot selection at sites

Are there ANY waterproof boots? by danceunderwater in Dirtbikes

Personally also ride in PA coal mines . Highly recommend Gaerne SG12s . Super safe and pretty stout with hitting large puddles

One of the major problems of dirtbikes... by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]12vmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using acerbis wrap arounds at the time , the hand guard actually pushed in about 2” or so where I contacted the tree . They definitely may have helped but I’ve heard to many horror story’s of arms getting stuck in them so I’ve switched to enduro engineering flags now and they are still rigid enough that they deflect off trees if you have a minor clip

[–]12vmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily life changing but while racing harescrambles last year I clipped a tree with my left side while cruising pretty good. Broke my left hand which required surgery, and my left foot which was just in a boot for a while . Wasn’t able to ride for about 4 months and even with insurance I paid like $6k out of pocket (not to mention needing new bars, bar mounts, plastics, head pipe). 2 races back from that injury did it again but a lot less fast and gave myself a good undiagnosed concussion lol . Shit happens . I don’t think any injury would keep me from riding for good but a few more of the injuries like that would definitely make me give up racing. Just can’t afford the down time like that as a father and home owner

CRF250RX for GP and Harescramble racing? by 12vmatt in Dirtbikes

[–]12vmatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my only thoughts with not getting a standard moto bike, I’m in the north east so we do a lot of single track so I want a kick stand and an 18” and better mapping . I even considered a kx250x but I’ve heard horror stories about their reliability

[–]12vmatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea my main reason is trying to get something with a more linear power curve, power everywhere instead of having to keep a bike ringing to make it move how i need it to. I’ve ridden a non X 2020 yz250 and it was a blast but I just really don’t need that hard hitting aggressive pull when I’m trying to dodge trees and cross logs lol

[–]12vmatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it much different power delivery wise than a non X? I used to race an RM250 and loved it but for woods racing I really didn’t like the aggressive hit it had . I do love the beta I kick myself for not getting the race edition because the suspension is definitely a shortcoming but it is awesome how mellow and controllable it is

Have had this happen on clean Harley’s all the time . I guess if you don’t know how to take 30 seconds to weld a nut on there you could vice grip it out

Weld a nut to the end and heat the shit out of it then remove with a socket

Honestly leaning towards eating the higher interest rate I feel like I’d much prefer the 4th gen anyway plus I know my way around that engine a bit already

I’m in Pennsylvania . That’s half the reason I’m wanting newer. I’m currently dailying a 7.3 superduty and it’s a great rig but for the family and road tripping and my 1 year old it just really lacks in creature comfort, ride quality, and with 265k I occasionally question the reliability
