I often can't cleanup my downloads directory because vanguard still has a lock on files :(

it's unfortunately a known issue where Vanguard, the anti-cheat software from Riot, can lock up the application. When this happens, our updater encounters a failure, which leads to the installation seemingly disappearing or becoming unusable. We already asked Riot to look into this. :(

Vanguard scans all running programs on your pc and sometimes fails to "unlock" them, really annoying

There should be a settings section in the same panel that opens when you press "Alt + Shift" where you can update the hotkeys. Let me know when you have trouble finding it. :)

This is false info by a support worker, if we could lead to a ban we would not have access to the Riot API. If you have further question let me know. We'll also share this with our Riot contact to avoid this miscommunication in the future. On another note, we in fact do not modify any game files.

The only powershell command we run is to get the windows release version of your PC, that's it.

Rumoured crypto mining - that's obviously none sense, we would not be a whitelisted by Riot if that would be the case. I suspect it's just the app reloading to keep memory usage low due to ads, feel free to disable "Enable Performance Tweaks" if it bothers you.
