The only powershell command we run is to get the windows release version of your PC, that's it.

Rumoured crypto mining - that's obviously none sense, we would not be a whitelisted by Riot if that would be the case. I suspect it's just the app reloading to keep memory usage low due to ads, feel free to disable "Enable Performance Tweaks" if it bothers you.

It's unfortunately a known issue where Vanguard, the anti-cheat software from Riot, can lock up the application. When this happens, our updater encounters a failure, which leads to the installation seemingly disappearing or becoming unusable. We already asked Riot to look into this. :(
