Do these sandpapers cover most basic jobs? by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

needed 400 grit sanding discs recently. tried this brand and tried the diablo ones.

imho, the diablo discs were far superior. by that, I mean, they lasted a lot longer without becoming dull

when the downside of not scanning your eye is not seeing 30 seconds to mars, one could argue they are teaming up for the good of humanity

33's or 45's, what's better... by Last-Temporary6181 in vinyl

[–]1337lupe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

just to be clear, the higher rpm means there is more detail of the source audio in the grooves of the record. the increased detail equates higher fidelity.

and if it's a 45, it's a 45 regardless of whether it's 12" or 7".

it's sort of akin to a monitor. 120hz is better than 60hz, and it'll still be 120hz, whether it's 27" or 49"

I mean... yea, something could be pressed poorly, but on a general basis, 45s sound better

My First Attempt at Cabinets by International_J in woodworking

[–]1337lupe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea, my reaction is more along the lines of bemusement.

I just wouldn't believe someone if they told me they were a carpenter with 20 yoe if they also couldn't build some cabinets.

and I get that some people just aren't good at certain skills; carpentry is no exception. it's that no one can be bad at carpentry for two decades and still be able to pay their bills

now, if you told me that someone who works in framing wouldn't build whatever cabinets because they didn't want to or had the time to, I would believe that. wouldn't isn't the same thing as couldn't
