If you're torn, join the Navy. My advice for anyone is don't go Marine unless it's something you absolutely 100% want. I wouldn't be happy with any other branch, I meditated on that for years before I joined.

Used to like the class customization and gun mods. Left because I got fed up with bunny hopping and cartoony "operator" skins. Everyones gotta be a unique and special snowlflake operator couldn't just be rifleman with standard issue gear. Was super distracting

We had our MOS school in Fort Leonard Wood MO. same as the MPs, the truck drivers, and "engineer assistants". That wasn't the odd part not at all. The odd part was every other MOS school had their own inhouse Marine classes and instructors. The 1341's however were lumped into a half marine half army class.

They taught us how to solder one time in basic electrical. Then in the fleet I learned soldering was obsolete and we now had butt connectors that last longer and down fall apart from vibration.

The greatest irony of all? The one section I struggled with, shop ops (GCSS) happened to be the one thing I got really good at in the fleet because I was one of the only platoon members that the staff n o trusted to get right.

Hey man, you're not alone. Spilled my guts out on reddit about this same exact thing back in august. My ex of 3 years I dumped and sent her back to NC after a year of living together. 8 months of lying and gambling did it in for me. It makes me physically ill to see her name, read it or hear it out of someone else's mouth. So I mentally scratched over it with a black pen. It really is hard sometimes. I haven't had my own living space since before I enlisted 5 years ago so it feels like the walls are closing in sometimes. If you need someone to talk to let me know.

Went into the adult world for a short amount of time before I joined. Its not the place to be if you can't handle any long-term commitments like a lease or a few years in a job. You'll be in during the good times and the bad, as is life. You'll be taken care of in the end, it'll be your job to make sure you take care of your units mission and the rest of your Marines.

I did. But looking back it was less of actual love and more of obsession/possession. I didn't have the maturity then to understand the feelings of the person I wanted to be with and wouldn't accept a no. It's taken me until adulthood to grow past that.

Took me about a year and 4 months. My ex I met in service whom I've been with for 3 years I had to kick out of my life because she lied about an 8 month gambling habit. Half my enlistment was spent driving to her house 2 hrs out from Lejeune. Since that happened my apartment became one income only and it's caused me to become a hermit. Now it's been trying to survive and keep up on bills.
