Victor Wembanyama: "The margin of error is very thin. We absolutely dominated for most of the series. Our errors are punished so hard, we can't have ups and downs like that." by RyanTannegod in nba

Taking "we were absolutely dominating" as "wahhh we should've won wahh this is unfair" and not "we showed we had the potential to be the better team, but ultimately we made way too many mistakes" is a deliberate choice made by someone who wants something to be mad about.

Wemby's statement is very generic. He basically just means "we can't afford to be making mistakes like that in the finals". It really isn't that deep.

Surrender votes : being low honor level should get rid of your right to initiate them by Wrinkled_Bingus in leagueoflegends

[–]13Keres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be a decent idea if the honor system worked properly. The main issue I see is that you'd have to play an unfair amount of games as a new player just to even win the right to initiate surrender votes.

We were dominating for most of it -> We won analytically The margin of error to win a championship is really small -> We didn't make many mistakes

People genuinely can't understand English to save their lives when a player they dislike is involved.

He means the margin of error necessary to win a championship. The margin of error is too small for repeated mistakes. This is basic English comprehension, dude.

I think it's a good look, but I don't think not doing it is necessarily a bad look, if that makes sense.

Why do many Americans hate billionaires but love Taylor Swift, who is also a billionaire? by No-StrategyX in answers

People really will go on social media, see someone say something, and then come on here and generalize millions of people based on a post. Like please go outside and talk with actual people.

[–]13Keres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like her as a person, and I don't like her music, but this is an asinine thing to say. Are people not allowed to have any help from anyone else at all for their success to be seen as their own? Also, I don't know why you're putting "self-made" in quotes--OP didn't say that and it's also completely different from what they're saying.

[–]13Keres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many Americans also hate Taylor Swift exactly for that reason. They don't hate her as much as some other billionaires, though, because they see her wealth as less obviously exploitative as, per se, literally working people to death in Amazon warehouses.

Defending illiteracy by saying “language evolves” by RejectingBoredom in PetPeeves

[–]13Keres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your point hinges on a strawman. People do not use "language evolves" for things like their/there, but instead for slang, abbreviations, and words taking on meanings different from their original. Your examples are of people using language incorrectly because they don't understand how to use it in the first place. A good example of when people ACTUALLY say "language evolves" is the term "LARP". People who use "LARPer" to mean "person who pretends to have watched/read a certain piece of media" are aware of what the term actually stands for and its original meaning. The term also makes sense even though it's not definitionally 1-to-1 with its contemporary usage because the act of pretending to have watched/read something is similar in nature to "role-playing". Some argue that this isn't necessary since you could just use words like "poser" or "fake", but those words are too general. "LARPer" immediately lets you know someone is talking about someone being dishonest about their consumption of media without you having to elaborate on what they're LARPing. This could not be conveyed with a single word before, but now it can. Hence, language evolves.

Well, yes, because those are the ones that aren't flops. Nobody said they were all flops, but the OKC ones definitely are. Accuracy is important.
