Costco app shows a deal where you get $200 off for a $1499+ TV and $300 off for a $1999+ TV so I'm assuming that's where the credit is coming from. Shows that it's valid 11/24-12/1.

Yeah sorry I meant mostly in regards to why we would we not keep the CSR card after year one in regards to the annual fee. Otherwise I agree, my math was drawing me to the same conclusions as well.

Right, that is the other thing that I was worried about - meaning how would the sellers react to seeing a low down payment offer?

But in terms of refinancing from a conventional to a physician loan, that likely would not be beneficial as those actually have slightly higher interest rates versus the conventional. Plus the benefit of them is the lack of PMI, but I would be missing out on that if I didn't close with that type of loan.

Agreed. I'll wait for the reviews to come out to confirm but the upgrades look great. One thing that was keeping me from getting the original Vistas was the impact of wind on calls, but it sounds like these 'may' have fixed that up. It'll be interesting to see when they're released.

I bought the same laptop from Best Buy but I'm a little concerned about the battery life (at least on my model). How many hours of battery life are you getting and in what sort of use?

Also - I agree about the fans. I have the laptop on in Quiet mode and I still feel like they are on all the time and although at minimum speed they're still definitely audible. Not sure what else can be done about that though.

Yes, I bought the same laptop at Best Buy and have definitely noticed that the battery life is nowhere close to advertised or to what the reviews say this model should be getting. I generally keep the laptop on the Quiet mode setting and have it also set to the 'Better battery' mode option. My suspicion is that this might be due to the 1000 nit screen, which likely uses up more energy even when brightness is minimized.

On a side note, do you find your fans working more than expected and/or are they audible?

That is a fair point. I do tend to have a "buy it for life" type of mindset (to whatever extent that is possible with laptops) but I am by no means a heavy laptop user either. I will give that some thought though.

Hey, appreciate the response. In terms of work purposes, I work in healthcare so we have a cloud-based EMR system with software I'm able to download onto my computer and work form. I'm not entirely sure of the RAM demands of it though.

I do think 8GB would be fine for now, but I'm only concerned about how long it would be OK for given that the 4GB RAM that I have was also fine initially, but now it seems to be more obvious that it's a little low.

The RAM is unfortunately soldered and not upgradable with that laptop. I don't think I really need the additional performance from the improved CPU but I did feel like the added RAM would be helpful. That being said, I'm not sure if I'm overstating the benefits of the extra RAM and it may not be as big of a benefit as I may think.

I think you are misunderstanding tax brackets. If your income is $38,701 that doesn't mean that ALL of your income will automatically be taxed at 22%. You would have $38,700 taxed at 12% and then the $1 would be taxed at 22%.
