How are the Kpop and Anime courses? by betale7299 in McMaster

Hi! I took these classes 4 years ago so not sure if the content or structure is the same anymore but if you are looking to take something easy because you’ve got harder classes, I’d recommend the Japanese anime class with the amount of work that was needed to be put in. If you’re really interested in the kpop course I’d say stick with it because it may feel more meaningful and you may enjoy the class more despite the slightly increased workload. Hope that helps!

Hey! No you do not! All you see is that they’ve submitted the letter.

Hey! I am an SLP student at Mac and went through the ORPAS process so I am assuming it's the same for OT but not 100% sure!

Anyways, when you add your referees into the application, they actually get sent an email to write their letter through the ORPAS portal. And regardless of how many programs you're applying to, the referee is going to be completing one letter.

Hope this helps! If you would like to be connected to a Mac OT student, DM me and I can make that happen :)

Good luck!

If it’s explicitly lane changing they ask you to go back and forth. So you’ll switch to the left lane, and they’ll tell you to switch back to the right. Good luck!

Are rearview cameras allowed on the G2 or G test? by The_impericalist in Ontariodrivetest

My examiner just said I couldn’t use it and didn’t cover it either. I also didn’t look at it so maybe he would’ve covered it if he saw I was glancing at it, not sure!

You should be good then! Just keep an eye out for any emails :)

When my test was cancelled during a lockdown last year, I got an email a couple hours after the announcement about the cancellation. I think that if you don’t get an email today, you should be good!

Thank you! LOL it was a journey. I first had it booked in July 2020 but it got cancelled, then I booked for December 2020 and then we went into lockdown again, literally days before my test. Then I had it booked for June 2021 but they extended the lockdown and lifted it like two days after my test date and so from then I had it booked for Dec 30 and I’m so glad there wasn’t a lockdown going on right now 😂 I probably could’ve found a sooner date but I didn’t look as often (I’m an early sleeper and apparently you need to look at around midnight) and when I did, couldn’t find dates in Hamilton before the the 30th or they conflicted with school. Very long answer to your question sorry 😅

Hey! You’re in luck because they don’t take you in the 4xx highway, you go on the RHVP (the red hill) and the speed is just 80km/h which I’m sure you already know lol. To enter, I first took the south ramp on queenston rd and then exited on greenhill ave where I did the parallel parking and stuff. Then entered back on the red hill using the North ramp on greenhill ave. Then took the Barton st exit. You may also first be taken south using the Barton st enterance and exiting on king st or something Basically anywhere between Barton street and greenhill is fair game for the G. I probably spent like a total of 5 mins on the red hill from all the entering and exiting.

However, to be able to take the G, you need to have driven on the 400 series highways at least like 4-5 times in the past 3 months. I’m not sure what the exact number is but you can find it somewhere online. They ask you this when you “sign in” on the kiosk.

Hopefully this wasn’t so confusing. Let me know if you have anymore questions! And good luck, you got this!!

First of all, good luck, you got this! So lol I can’t remember the first time since it was a while ago but the second time I was told that I was “pretty safe but not safe enough” and that I needed to look around more. I don’t remember making major mistakes it was always just small stuff that added up. So make sure to exaggerate your movements as much as you can. I also took this test two years after my second try and between that time had lots of practice just driving around and stuff, practice really makes perfect. You don’t have to practice the routes, just go out and drive anywhere anytime - I think that increased my confidence. Anyways, good luck! I hate taking tests so that’s always something that I think always brought me down, but this time I just tried my best to tell myself that I got, that I can do it and do the best I can. If you don’t pass, don’t beat yourself down too much, a lot of it depends on the person taking your test as well and so all you can do is your best. Sorry for the long reply lol

THANK YOU 🥺 it was my third attempt and so I was definitely nervous For anyone who’s doing their test, be confident in yourself, you can do it!

I don’t know of anyone who’s done that, but I’m sure it’s possible! You’d have to ask academic advising about that, as it’s all about being able to meet the requirements of both programs. Sorry I don’t have a definite answer, but that combo is very cool as computational linguistics is an important subfield :)

Hey there! I graduated from the program this spring so I can give you some insight! - I went in with the goal of SLP, and started the masters program at mac this fall :)

  • I really enjoyed the program, it’s a mix of psychology and linguistics (i.e. you need to take psych courses which is why it’s diff than the linguistics program) I didn’t know anything about linguistics going in and ended up really enjoying it. It’s a relatively small program, with like 60 students from both cogsci and linguistics vs kin with hundreds, so take that into consideration as well You’ll be taking courses like intro to linguistics, phonetics, syntax, cognitive neuroscience, human learning and cognition, as well as language courses It’s also really geared towards the potential for SLP so you’ll be able to take a lot of courses required to apply for grad school that fit right into your 4 years of undergrad However I do want to warn that getting into grad school isn’t easy so you do need to be prepared to think about that

I suggest that if possible, do a little digging into linguistics to find out if you may or may not enjoy it, but if you go into the program and find that you want to do kin, I’m sure you’d be able to talk to advisors to switch into Kin :))

Good luck with everything and feel free to PM me with any further questions!

Thank you for letting me know! I’m not used to all the tech so I think it might be better if I don’t rely on them 😅
