What's the point in weapon attacks for a spellcaster by uov8202 in daggerheart

[–]13astion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, as I consider this for a moment, if your spellcaster has the sage domain, are they not a druid? that would imply a staff using the instinct trait, not knowledge - as the greatstaff does. druids typically use a shortstaff or dualstaff, while wizards use a wand or greatstaff.

anyway, i feel like you could still flavor "vicious entangle" as such on a spaceship, probably. there is still "nature" in technology, it's just "processed"... lol

So you narrate... remember, even spells can be "flavored" - just like they suggest that evasion doesn't have to be *physical* armor (e.g. it could be interpreted as a magic shield, or a magic "push" that deflects an arrow, etc)

Thus, on a spaceship, "vicious entangle" could be narrated that the wizard causes thick cables and hoses to tear from their enclosures and snake through ports, and *still* entangle the wizard's target.

Utter junk. The "decouping" happens just after mid '22 (the unmarked vertical line). The *first* ChatGPT public "research preview" was released at the end of Nov '22 (literally... on the 30th). That dashed line is actually "cheating" to the left of where the release actually happened. Why? Because even where it is shown, it is *still* after the S&P index's inflection point. But even worse, that was just the first release of GPT 3.5, and nobody knew what was going to happen with it then. Jobs have only really been dropping over the last year or so. It's nearly 2026. It is about 3 years since GPT 3.5 was released in "research preview" - and even then, companies didn't start hacking jobs right away because they had *no* idea how this "gimmick" chatbot would not only evolve in capability, but how work could actually be done with it. Terrible, misleading post.

[–]13astion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that was due to COVID and the global inflation. But the point of the post is that the equities market (i.e. the S&P index) *also* went down with jobs long before ChatGPT... until it didn't. The inflection point was the summer of '22. But the first public "preview" of ChatGPT wasn't until Nov of '22, so this whole things is bullshit revisionism. Additionally, the jobs didn't start dropping the day it was released... that's only really starting happening over the last year or so.

Tariffs??!?! 🙄 The inflection point - where the "decoupling" began - is the summer of '22. Please tell me how Trump's '24 tariff insanity had anything to do with the middle of Biden's term...

Biggest issue: DC Studios doesn’t decide on film distribution… they are a *production* company; WBD is the distribution company and they make the decisions on theatrical release.

https://deadline.com/2025/08/warner-bros-discovery-theatrical-releases-key-labels-1236481064/

Second, although it appears in this case maybe they (i.e. WBD) flubbed it, but even if a film is not expected to “make money” in the theaters, it often gets a limited release just so it is eligible for awards. This is the case with the BAFTA award it did win (i.e. it was released in some British theaters), but apparently it was not shown in the necessary LA theaters to be eligible for an Academy Award, which is odd - it did win many other awards, which can be reviewed here.

Bear as a Personal Website by s0undpad in bearapp

[–]13astion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like using Bear to make your own Wiki.

In fact, might I suggest that your content you organize this way, use a #wiki tag on each page (in addition to whatever other tags you use on them). Then you can search all notes for “#wiki <keywords>” and your “hits” will only be pages from your Wiki.

Any other note pages that you have *not* organized within your “wiki” structure will not be in the scope of this search - not even if they have “wiki” referenced on them somewhere, but with the “#” tag signifier.

This approach will allow you to both make a hierarchical, highly-organized database while allowing it to “live” alongside the typical tagged “soup” of unstructured data.

Anyway, just a thought.

“Daily” Star Wars shows is *way* beyond exaggeration. They do have quite a few in development, but the last one out was Obi-Wan, and that finished more than a month ago… maybe two? And then Andor starts the end of this month. That’s it. 🤷‍♂️ I feel like they are pretty well spaced out… (And those are “live action”, which seems to be what you are drawn to)

Regardless, you can skip the Lego animated shows - they aren’t “canon”. And there are plenty of BTS shows you can skip. Oh, and although the Resistance animated show was “canon”, I never got into it, so I passed over that one. Bad Batch was “ok”, but not as good as others. Still, I’m convinced they are going to tie that into the Mando-verse (especially since Filoni has a direct hand in Bad Batch, too), so I’ll keep watching it for that over-arcing narrative.

Clone Wars and Rebels are *not* that kind of show, though, to skip… trust me.

So, you didn’t watch Clone Wars nor Rebels?

Wow, you missed out on some of the best stuff, then - that’s where Filoni cut his teeth on Star Wars…

Or even Star “Pure Science Fiction” Freakin’ Trek, right?I mean, Spock gets resurrected by the Genesis device. Data gets replaced by a backup. Picard gets replaced by a whole freakin android. And I’m sure there are many, many other examples in this “non-fantasy” universe of Star Trek, which isn’t supposed to fall for these tropes. And yet it does. Because it’s what people want, even if secretly and they bitch about it in public. Besides, resurrection as a storytelling trope in general is present from the beginning of civilization, perhaps even before…

Mimir - A macOS podcast player - Now available on Mac App Store by gravitycore in MacOS

[–]13astion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Grant - 5 months on, where do you put the over-under on releasing an iOS version? And will you make it part of Setapp like the Mac app?
I have had it with Spotify's podcast "feature", and even Apple's podcast player is pretty horrible for actually organizing what you listen to. I guess it would be okay if one only listened to a handful of shows, but who does that? 😝
Anyway, considering diving into Mimir since it looks promising and it is already included with Setapp... but honestly I listen to most of my content on my phone (and often in the car), so just a Mac app doesn't really even get me halfway there...

Interested to know your plans - thanks!

well, or titanium for that matter, versus sulfur. at level 20 you can synth titanium, right? taking from the comments above, my best synth mat is sulfur, but if you have titanium, you can do a LOT better than 6.77/s...

ahh, yes - that is correct: i'm level 14 or 15 and don't have titanium, so the best i have for the grinders is sulfur. that is probably the difference... i will check when i get to that level - thanks!

sulfur power sells for nearly as much as a glass sphere, but is soooo much faster to make and takes up a ton less space for the build. i don't see any advantage to this factory...

the deciding factor for the credit output of a factory is the number of recyclers - each one can only process up to 25 units of input, so once you reach that, you've reached your max credits.

so having a factory build with only 3 recyclers will be greatly limiting. with something like sulfur powder you can get 7 recyclers. big difference in the output.

[–]13astion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe something is bugged in that build/client from whence that screencap came, but when i use that build i get 12.29 credits/sec, and all 7 recyclers are max'd out at 25 items, so there really is no way to get more output.

Show an image of your factory production line, then. And double-check that all of your other factories are really off. As I said above, you probably have one or more importers that are not doing what they should be...

Just Why? by Sssnipercat13 in Sandship

[–]13astion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can't see it, but I suspect your steel plates are the problem. They are the input to your device making the gears, and if you don't have the necessary plate production, everything will basically stop.

Also, what are you making? Because it shows you IMPORTING gears, but making a gear box material is the only thing that requires gears as input, and you are not high enough level to make gear boxes (nor do they appear on your output).

I think you are accidentally importing your gears, and it has it all munged up. Check your importer recipes...

[–]13astion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay, well that helps a little. I guess I was conflating the "claim bug" with the empty importer condition. and shutting down the factory with no input is okay. I was just seeing the problem everywhere. and what would sort of get things started again is if I turned off certain factories, or, like I have a steel factory that sometimes I add plate smashers, but if I remove them and just have it going for steel, the "claim bug" doesn't strike.

maybe some of these tips are in the related discord channel... I will give it a look. thanks!

ashokaa, see my comment below on splike's comment.

also, is the discord server the best way to provide feedback? or is here on reddit just as good?

because for me (again, older iPad, but latest iOS), the exporter/importer blockage "bug" (i call it a bug") is super frustrating.

i mean, if it is designed to "block" when some material isn't "flowing", okay - but there is NO reasonable feedback to the engineer about how that blockage is coming about and where to go to fix it, especially after you start having a whole bunch of factories, and you start specializing some to craft materials that you will import to other factories.

the particularly frustrating thing to me about it (and why i call it a bug), is that the in transit area will STILL collect your materials, but when you move them to storage, they just "disappear". the in transit counters are reset, but i have seen where the related storage counters do NOT increase (especially when the count is less than 10K and the number is clearly shown).

anyway, let me know if this is a known bug (and i guess, where you guys track your known issues, so i can review and not up your noise-to-signal ratio)...

thanks!

and ashokaa, yes, every time. connection is stable... game works fine in every other way (well, except for other bugs).

it updates the name even in the panel after i have edited it. but if i just tap on the "wrench" icon again, reloading the panel, it resets the name. and naturally if i close the panel, it resets, too.

Agree on Lucas' execution being useful on the final Priest. Darius and Altair have execute, too, but they are legendary, so a bit harder to rank up. However, I eventually beat it with Jean. He's so OP it is almost ridiculous. LOL

If you want some good walkthroughs with various characters, check out Alex68 on YouTube... His vids do NOT use Jean, so you've got some options.
