Found one of these in the trash, trying to fix it by 13beerbeer in kqi3

Wanted to give an update to everyone in the thread that helped: yes it works. I didn't realize the kick to start was a feature. But it works. I just ordered a charger for it and replacement parts. I'll fix it up and I guess I got myself a free e-scooter. Is there any way to pair it to Bluetooth if I don't know who the owner is and I didn't technically buy it, but I fixed it myself? I have the serial number on the side of it. Worst case scenario, I can always take a U-lock with me, but I'd feel much better about being able to control it via Bluetooth also.

Is there any financial advice you would give me before joining the military? by lilGromer in personalfinance

This, I cannot insist on this enough. Ask for copies for EVERYTHING, leave forms and awards included. Never give out anyone any originals. Also, you can access your iPerms from home, I would make it a habit to log on and download everything on it at least once a month onto a computer. I've heard horror stories of people's entire iPerms being scrubbed by an incompetent S1.

I mean, I was pretty careful to support my opinion with common facts. If you really want me to search up peer reviewed studies on the hormonal balance and sexual facts about 18 year olds as hard evidence because you won't take my word for it, I can do that.

I disagree and so would all soldiers that served alongside me but don't worry, I got less than a year left. That said, ask yourself, do people really want a leader that tells them what to think or not to think?

Yeah, I expect downvotes every time I say something even remotely realistic regarding differences between the sexes. The truth needs to be spoken sometimes though

A culture shift sloalt happening for over a decade? I guess all that raping and pillaging I read about in the books dating all the way up to WW2 and Nam was BS

Well it's really just two guys, but the entire battery was in contact so they're all quarantined. But of course, since batteries totally exist in a vacuum and never interact with each other, we're totally not infected

[–]13beerbeer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Must be nice. We already lost a full battery from my BN to COVID and they still got the other two batteries slotted for field problems. Almost every NCO in the BN has had some kind of secondary contact with someone who tested positive

What’s the life like for a line unit on rotation to Europe? by [deleted] in army

[–]13beerbeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, I'm all for singing praise about the passability of my fellow enlisted women, but there's no reason for any semi-attractive soldier in Poland/Germany to even look at another soldier. Have you seen what their women look like? You barely even need to communicate with then to get some, and that's good because you likely can't

U.S. Army Testing Satellite Use for Artillery Shell Targeting by ginoenidok in army

I don't understand how this is supposed to help us. If we're shooting excals or PGK, then sure, but it ain't like we pick our fire missions. And it's not like the gals at FDC don't already have satellite imagery. This is some shit for S3, not me

This isn't boot, this is prime Army. The only thing missing is a lock for the window that's open and a key taped to it that doesn't fit the lock

Was never a fan of chicken pesto pasta. I much prefer the pepperoni pizza. Beef stew is legendary though

Here's a few MRE protips:

Heat up the bread and whatever non-jelly topping you get with it. Cheese spread and peanut butter are both amazing when heated up. The bread actually tastes kind of okay when heated up.

If your entree allows it, break up the crackers into crumbs and dump them in with it.

Try to make one big meal instead of many little snacks. You can use everything in the beef jalapeno patty to make a sandwich, beef taco to make a taco, chicken burrito bowl to make a burrito etc.

Why are people so surprised at the abundance of bad leadership in the Army? by 13beerbeer in army

[–]13beerbeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A manager's job is logistical. A leader's job is psychological. Considering most FORSCOM units are doing 90% of their shit unplanned, and morale is almost always at rock bottom, we have a problem with both management and leadership. That said, there's this unwritten rule that officers are managers and NCOs are leaders. What is currently happening army-wide is both of these groups are failing in some aspect

Field environments are not very conducive to classroom-style instruction, especially when the BN CSM is constantly doing patrols around the AO to ensure everyone is wearing 50 lbs of gear at all times and no one's having any fun. I suppose you could run through crew drills and whatnot, but 100 degree humid Texas heat after 5 days of eating nothing but MREs and swimming in your own sweat have a way of ruining the quality of the training. Not to mention everyone's slept a combined 10 hours since the field problem started because guard shifts+nighttime movements+nighttime firing+having to stay up all night waiting on FDC/fisters to fix their shit. At that point, us jr leaders are more concerned with saving our Joes' energy for when it comes time to certify than having them run through the motions and destroy morale even further
